Can you have real stainless kickboards??

From memory, when we raised the SS we wanted with the cabinet-maker, they didn't want to get involved with it being part of their contract. They made the kitchen, and preferred to leave the SS stuff for us to organise afterwards. After we had the splashback installed, the cabinet-maker came around and finished it off at the edges with a silver silicone filler to match and flush it off.

On the fingerprint front, there is a lot of talk in America about some manufacturing process that keeps the fingerprints down. There are a couple of companies that sell items like dishwashers that have a coating on the stainless that keeps fingerprints to a minimum (including sales in Australia), and I wouldn't be surprised to see more of this in here.

Question for Michelle is if her brother has heard of or seen any of this product for metal fabrication in Oz or not?

A few years ago, I bought a new fridge (Electrolux/Kelninator) that has the sort of SS material you are talking about.

It is fairly thin stuff, and can dent quite easily if you're not careful. It has the brushed SS effect, and I think is coated by some sort of polymer coating that protects the metal and gives a smoother surface. It is important to follow maintenance and cleaning instructions or you might damage the protective surface. Its quite good.

Absolutely you can have stainless steel!. It leaves aluminium and laminates in the shade for wearability- these are alot softer and tend to ding and scratch. Better still if the kickboard is made out of solid timber before being clad in stainless as MDF (squashed cardboard) can blow out if it gets wet.
