Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 21, 2008 8:16 pm Hello everyone again,
this kitchen business is really tough! Hopefully this makes sense... We are hoping to have an earth tone feel to the house. We are looking at floating floorboards throughout the house inc the kitchen. We are tossing up between options at the moment for the kitchen bench and cupboards. Option 1 Laminex diamond Gloss Alexander stone bench tops with Fromica Sable cupboards Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Option 2 Laminex Freestyle Risotto benchtop with Formica Mocha cupboards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ For both kitchens we are looking at white tiled splash-back with a chocolate brown feature tile, and Solver Paint Bleached Leather wall paint. Stainless Steel freestanding 90cm oven and canopy range-hood. Here is the dilemma, 1. I understand from previous posts that diamond gloss laminex scratches relatively easily and looses its luster 2. we are unsure what the cost is for the freestanding bench-top so may not choose this option if it is out of our price range 3. if we go for freestanding, we possible need to choose a different color combination so we dont have brown cupboards? Does anyone have any suggestions on other color choice options or suggestions on bench top products? thanks in advance On the road to building our 1st home Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 2Jan 21, 2008 8:49 pm I personally would stay away from the gloss…..
Besides I prefer your second choice better. 3. if we go for freestanding, we possible need to choose a different color combination so we dont have brown cupboards? Do your wall cupboards in the neutral colour similar to the risotto! Sorry I can’t help you with that colour for some reason I don’t have the Risotto sample!!! So correct me if i am wrong, but are you suggesting that we have the risotto bench tops, and then a light color similar to risotto for the under bench and above bench cupboards? Thanks On the road to building our 1st home Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 4Jan 21, 2008 9:02 pm NO….the under benches stay the Mocha!!!
It’s just your wall cupboards that are neutral. Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 10Jan 23, 2008 11:28 am Leece thanks for the responses, now i need to talk to the color consultant (who by the way has not been much help at all! ) Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 11Jan 23, 2008 11:44 am I am fuming about her behaviour. We have asked for certain thngs that she has not followed up. When we asked for certain alterations such as us bringing in our own oven as we did not want the one provided she got all cranky and what appeared to be insulted When we asked for one item in particular she kept trying to say, "this is your first home, you dont need to spend that money, it is too expensive" etc. She has still not followed it up for us, We are ment to sign the contracts friday. If she does not get back to me, the contracts won't be signed!
When i told her we did not want the diamond gloss benchtops she again got huffy and stated "they are not ment to scratch". It is like everything is too hard for her. It is getting very annoying, she just doesnt seem to want to go the extra mile! why shoud she care how we spend our money? she should want us to spend as much as possible! ahhhhhhhhh On the road to building our 1st home Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 12Jan 23, 2008 11:49 am Again I have to be careful what I say here….

Re: bench-tops and cupboards again 14Jan 23, 2008 12:02 pm Leece,
Just make your selections the way you like and treat anything the builder's consultant says as just noise (just ignore it). Good luck.
