Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 05, 2011 12:29 am Hi all, i'm new to this site, desperate to get some feedback please please please... sorry if this topic has been done to death ... i'm in two minds all the time & forever changing my mind, my hubby is sick of me asking ... so here's my dilemma i will have white gloss vinyl wrap cupboards (modernform doors) & drawers throughout my new kitchen - central kitchen with separate island bench, will have floorboards (tasi oak colour) & not decided on my splashback colour (thinking tuape - neutral colour), so tossing up with these ceaserstone colours; - "snow" - will this look too white in an all white kitchen? and will it stain with food like curries, bolognase sauce, cake colouring, etc??? - "white shimmer" - too sparkly will this date - my husband loves this one, i'm in two minds - "osprey" - safe bet over white shimmer ... we are after a more subtle look, but didn't want the kitchen to look too clinical, anyone got comments on any of the above colours or have them in their kitchen??? love to hear ideas thanks Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 2Jul 05, 2011 7:00 am We are getting Buttermilk for ours....but we have off white cupboard doors. I also sat on this issue for quite some time. I doubt that it will stain. I asked at the Brisbane office and they said it shouldn't, and even so you have a kit ready to pull up any stains that won't budge.....I am hoping this anyway. White Shimmer looks lovely and I don't think it would date as it is still quite white. Snow seems fairly common and you couldn't go wrong with that as a choice. Osprey has a bit more density to the tones in it, so it could work nicely with the floorboards. I probably haven't helped much....but I think that this is such a personal decision too. Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 3Jul 05, 2011 8:29 am I haven't seen White Shimmer in the flesh as it wasn't available when I chose mine, but it sounds lovely and I don't think it will date any more than others. My friend has had the Granite Black Galaxy for over 10 years now and it still looks brilliant in her kitchen. With a beautiful Taupe splashback it sounds perfect. Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 4Jul 05, 2011 8:35 am I have polar white cupboards and pot drawers (top and bottom) and a metallic paint splashback which stops the kitchen from looking clinical, I got ice snow benchtops. If I could work out how to put up a picture I would. I have blogged a picture in my last post. www.thehalls.com.au cheers Linda Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 6Jul 05, 2011 10:14 am In my kitchen I have "Ice Snow" Caesarstone and I love it. Not too white and not too speckly! It blends in really well with my Alabaster (warm off white) cupboards. I have Spotted Gum flooring and a taupey coloured glash splashback (Dulux Alecon Lace). The only thing I've found that can stain it if you don't remove it straight away is Tumeric. If it does stain, then a tiny amount of Jiff or Gumption will remove it (but don't rub too hard!!) Not the best photo, but you get the idea...sort of! The speckles in the Caesarstone blend in perfectly with the splashback. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... Don't get me wrong; I do like white, clean looking kitchens but IMHO there is such a thing as too much white (thus why I went for the black splashback ) I haven't had any stains which I couldn't remove with a bit of jif. Good luck with making the decision Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 8Jul 05, 2011 11:07 am I haven't had handover yet (14th July Yay!!!!!). I have chosen white shimmer benches, white gloss cupboards and white glass splashbacks with Liquorish Linea laminex on the living room side of the island. My floors are beige (travertine look) porcelain tiles in a semi polished finish and the appliances are s/steel. In my last house I had white matt cupboards and stone benches that were some other brand (Cant remember which) and they were a white base with a couple different flecks and sparkles. The sparkles were much larger than the white shimmer & so were the flecks. I loved it and would have chosen it again if it had been in my builders range. So, no, I dont think the sparkles in the white shimmer will date- they are really very subtle. I am hoping that they will look brighter at night with a downlight on them. ETA: I think that , for my taste, once you have the colour from your floor, backsplash and maybe s/steel oven etc that it wouldn't look too white. You could always add in some nice canisters etc to give some colour with the bonus that they are easily changed. Re: What colour ceaser stone benchtop have you got?? - HELP! 9Jul 05, 2011 2:40 pm great thank you all so much for your responses .. and for the pics, your kitchens all look FAB!!! - yes, its a personal choice but under so much pressure to make it right as it's one you wouldn't want to be in a hurry to replace cos of the $$$ - movingGal, your colour choices are similar to mine even down to the liquorish linea laminex on one side of my island bench facing the dining room - i have a big travertine dining table, so would love some photos when you get handover!! I think i've discounted "snow" so it's now osprey (warm white) or white shimmer (cool white) ... its the sparkles that get me, that's all ... decisions decisions, i've been asking everyone I walk past hehehe I think I've still got another month before I need to decide, cainet makers coming out to measure in a month or so, then will do the template (whatever that means), guess I need to know by then. I had originally picked organic white, but saw it in a display home & hubby didn't like it, so back to the drawing board with these colours ... so if anyone else has any other opinion please let me know. BTW - is vinyl wrap doors really that bad??? i've heard not to get them to get the lacquered finish, but my cabinet makers talked me out of the laquacered??? there is apparently another product out there called ultra glaze - has anyone got any opinions on these finishes??? thanks again ......
