Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 27, 2011 7:02 pm Help Im in the market for a side by side with home bar and water/ice dispenser. I have looked at Samsung,LG and Smeg. Problem is the larger capacities are huge. Especially depth wise. The Smeg is the best fit but not sure if its the best buy. Built in Korea and expensive also smaller size than the others... Does anyone out there have one of the above or know if the Smeg is reliable and well built?? Thanks Re: side by side fridge 2Jun 29, 2011 11:59 pm How about GE? They have side by side fridges with water/ice dispenser I find rather compact in size. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” http://www.buildinganewhome.com.au Re: side by side fridge 3Jun 30, 2011 6:30 am we have a bosch side by side with water and ice no help really! Re: side by side fridge 4Jun 30, 2011 9:40 am We have an LG...for about 4 or 5 years I guess. Been very happy with how it's performed. Only thing to be aware of with side by sides, is that you will find the fridge side a bit limited in what you can fit into it. Wide platters are a pain and may not fit. As much as I like the fridge, I would be happier, I think, with a top and bottom so you have the full width of the fridge. That's my only complaint about it Re: side by side fridge 5Jun 30, 2011 9:47 am We have the LG French door fridge/freezer with water on the door, and the ice maker in the freezer and love it, had it for four or more years now and it's wonderful, I think it's 618 liters, it does stick out a bit more than a normal fridge tho Building our own custom design with Redink Pre-start - 28/06/2011 Building license approval - sept 2011 Footings - 8/10/2011 my thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48921 Re: side by side fridge 6Jul 03, 2011 10:34 pm I have the Samsung french door 751 litre. LOVE IT! And haven't managed to fill it yet either. I wanted an ice dispenser in the door. Quite a few of the models I looked at had the ice dispenser inside the freezer and after using one for a week at a holiday apartment, I decided that was not for me. The fridge space in our new kitchen was made wider and deeper at the design stage to accommodate the fridge. But I have no regrets about it at all. Here's a pic.... That's the same one I want to get for my kitchen. Btw how do you like those dishdraws? I almost bought one but got a stainless steel Samsung dishwasher instead. Re: side by side fridge 8Aug 29, 2011 5:24 pm Hi Graham I'm still totally in love with my fridge. Good luck choosing the fridge for you. I am also still totally in love with the Fisher & Paykel dishdrawers that we installed one either side of the sink rather than having a double unit with one on top of the other. We had a double dishdrawer (one drawer on top of the other) in our previous kitchen. I have a spinal problem and can not bend. So I only used the top drawer of the dishwasher. This way, I don't have to bend to unpack the dishwashers at all. LOVE it and can't recommend it enough. Neither can my physio as my back has never been better Re: side by side fridge 10Sep 01, 2011 7:38 am miss_ticky2 We have an LG...for about 4 or 5 years I guess. After umming and arrhing about the 752L samsung - mainly due to the fingerprint finish we decided on the 701L LG ice/water fridge, its the same layout as the 752L and is also stainless finish but its fingerprint proof. They were the same price but i knew the finish would annoy me with my 4yo and 2yo boys. we also have a tuckerbox freezer and our current fridge/freezer in the garage so we will never be short. I chose it, because it did not have a water and ice dispenser. These often cause problems. They also use more energy. Its only my husband and I also, so we manage our G and T with ice cubes from the trays. I am very happy with it. The main things I checked for when buying the fridge was capacity for the fridge and freezer, fit, energy consumption and noise level as it is in an open plan area Re: side by side fridge 14Sep 06, 2011 11:09 pm Probably way too late to be of any help to the OP, But in case anyone cares 9umm...thought not ) we've had a Westinghouse pigeon-pair for a few years now...Works well for us........ From my research it was the best value for money and I really wanted one that had separate taps for water and ice on the outside. Can't fault it! It even has the door on the front so I can have my gin and tonic in there as well as the milk!! We have a problem with trying to level the fridge as there is only adjustment at the front and we need to raise it at the back a little. After phoning Samsung and being given two contact numbers we are getting nowhere - has anyone else had this problem? Is there a star rating on these fridges for energy efficiency and which is the most economical to run in the long run? Re: side by side fridge 19Nov 06, 2011 5:56 am Which colour would you prefer? My husband likes white and I like silver grey -we ended up buying the Bosch side by side White fridge, but I'm still thinking if we should change our mind and get the silver grey instead, we still have enough time to think as we've chosen to have it delivered by December. The silver grey is about $200 more expensive though. The colour of our kitchen wall is white, the cupboards colour is mahogany/dark brown. Any response will surely help. Thanks side by side fridge 20Nov 06, 2011 6:03 am Hi What about your other appliances (cooktop, oven, microwave)? I would have thought it was pretty common to match them (maybe not the microwave if you have an existing one), so if you have a stainless cooktop/oven then get a stainless fridge. If you have white, get white. Paul Hi everyone First time posting on the group, and seeking guidance on your experience with the Monash or nearby councils on time taken for sub-division approvals.
