for anyone with a stone benchtop or vanity top what edge profile did you choose? is there a recommended profile for the square look? also with the 40 or 50mm versions (as opposed to normal 20mm essastone) is this additional stone added on the edge only to make the whole benchtop seem like its that thick? does that cost a lot more??? Re: stone benchtop edge profiles/thickness 2Jan 26, 2008 1:49 pm Hi Bec,
When I was a kitchen designer for Poliform I always used 50mm thick tops as it gives the kitchen a totally different look and feel. You can have a look at some Poliform kitchen photos here. Engineered stone and granite generally comes in a slab 20mm thick. Any thicker and you would find it very difficult to transport and get it inside your house. Thats why they build the edge up to 40mm or greater. And yes, the cost to do so is higher especially if you request a mitred join for the built up edges. Edge details I typically used at Poliform were arrised or very small pencil round. Hope this helps you Bec. We built a bit over 10 years ago. Sure, the current trends are for squared styles, but I maintain that the bullnosed edges are FAR more user friendly and attractive too. I think all the square stuff these days is dull. Ash. Re: stone benchtop edge profiles/thickness 4Jan 26, 2008 2:11 pm On a roll Ash……………………………………..
