Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 18, 2011 9:00 pm Can anyone help me out with this kitchen style? Its the one with 2 counters and one overhanging the other a little. link to a pic here http://tiny.cc/13unk
I'm looking at getting the benchtops re-done and looking for an idea as to how much harder/costlier it will be with this sort of configuration. Cheers! Re: What is this Kitchen style? 2Jun 18, 2011 9:41 pm I think the little shelf that's higher than the bench is called an upstand - I've seen that written on plans. You would need to specify if you want the overhang on the side so you can sit on a barstool with your knees under or the side to hide things on the bench or both. Re: What is this Kitchen style? 4Jun 19, 2011 7:26 pm Hi Varshnei, In SA it's just called a breakfast bar. We went for an upstand on our island just to block out the sink but a full length one is called a breakfast bar. Good luck with getting what you want. The underside of the top is usually grooved out for it to slide onto the back panel. cheers With 25 years kitchen experience and a passion for what I do, I have joined this forum to offer advice or at least my opinion on all things relevant to kitchens.
