Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows if a black shadowline feature in cabinetry can be covered with brushed aluminium or stainless steel?

Depends how thin and deep the line is because steel 304 may baulk or twist when guillotined, alum may be then be better option Re: Shadowline Query 4May 17, 2011 9:07 am Thanks for your responses. I do have a pic but I don't know how to load it in this space. The shadowline is 20mm and runs all along kitchen bench were the drawers and cupboards are and also on the other side of the bench. Re: Shadowline Query 5May 17, 2011 9:51 am Thats not a problem, is the shadow line flush with the carcase, or is it set back a little? if its currently flush with the carcase's, when you get it re-laminated, it may sit proud about 1.5mm. Laminex, Formica and Halifax all make a brushed stainless steel laminate, that is a super fine stainless metal film bonded to normal laminate, so it can be worked like any ordinary laminate. G Re: Shadowline Query 6May 17, 2011 10:28 am The shadowline is set back a little. Thank you so much, I feel relieved to know that it can be fixed. We are currently still in the building process (about 4-5weeks until hand over) but I'm not happy with the black shadowline as we have light coloured benches and cabinetry. When we asked if we wanted the shadowline feature, we were told it was simply a gap between the bench and cabinetry. We had no idea that a black board would be placed under our bench, we just assumed it would be the same colour as our cabinetry. The black just does not match our colour scheme. Is brushed stainless steel laminate expensive? Re: Shadowline Query 7May 17, 2011 11:00 am Not sure on the sqm price, but you are looking at minimal amounts. a post forming company can supply kick rips of 150mm widths, that can be ripped down to the widths your after. check in your yellow pages for a laminate / benchtop supplier and give them a call, it will give you an idea on cost. keep in mind the labor side of it. it is a little fiddly, and can chew thru time pretty quick, so a local cabinetmaker may charge you an hourly rate + materials. G 2 7175 There is no reason why building contract reconciliation cannot be done prior to handover, if the builder won't do it get someone to do it for you. Why would you pay for… 3 6680 |
