Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 12, 2011 1:53 pm Hi all, I am hoping that someone on here has some suggestions to an issue I am having with my kitchen renovations. Recently our awful upright oven died a horrible death (hooray), and so we decided to install an underbench oven and cooktop. The cabinetmaker has installed the cabinet for the oven, but we need to get a small piece of granite to continue the benchtop and to hold our cooktop, but this is proving very difficult. I have now tried with both of my local granite suppliers who appear very helpful when I am in their showroom, but never get back to me and seem uninterested when I call. I do not believe it has anything to do with them being unable to match the granite, both suppliers indicated they had off-cuts out the back that matched ours. I believe it is such a small job they do not wish to take it on. The total area we need added is 600x600mm with the centre cut out for the cooktop. Has anyone had to add an extra piece of granite to their benches before? I am after some suggestions on what options I have, or if anyone has used something other than granite when installing a cooktop.
