Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 30, 2011 10:08 pm Hi, im james and new to the forum. been renovating my kitchen over the last three weeks in my spare time. im up to the point on choosing my kitchen bench tops. My idea of this kitchen was a black and white with some grey. sort of a contempery look is what im after using plain colours. since i have uv gloss black base cabinets, gloss black glass splash back for the breakfast bar, wall cabinets are going to be gloss white, all stainless appliances. Ive used a grey sort of colour porcelain floor tiles no with how thats going i was thinking white stone bench tops should look nice then possibly a mid grey colour tile for the wall splash back or i may even go a glass splash back for the walls yet undecided at this stage. bunnings do bench tops that are called think collection solids. its made from natural minerals and polymer resins, main reason im thinking of using this as the benchtop is they have it in polar white which is what im after in a 40mm edge. coming in @ $3130 for three slabs already cut to size factory mitered joints ready to be fitted, just have to cut out for sink and cooktop.. i then had priced up a laminate benchtop through a local cabinet maker and can get that done and fitted for $2000. just the square form laminates have a limited colour selection and i cant get a plain white colour. theres another company called polytec that has a bit more of a selection of colours in a tight radius edge but the classic white colour in matt finish is a bit of a cream white. they do make a designer white but only in a texture finish which i dont like. anyways ill throw some pictures up of how its been going. do use think a white benchtop is going to go well with how the rest of its looking? Cheers.
