Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 03, 2008 4:31 pm I recently stayed in an apartment-style motel, that had a kitchen with cupboards that had shelves that rolled out, rather like drawers. But they weren't really drawers, more like shelves with metal 'barriers' to stop things from, obviously, falling out.
I have tried to find such a thing but with most kitchen shops closed for the holiday season, it's proving an elusive task. I have also tried to describe this concept to others but, as they haven't seen it (well, apart from the two friends who were also holidaying with me!) , It's hard to pass on the concept successfully. Anyone know of this kind of thing in a kitchen? Fiona Re: Cupboards with Roll-Out Shelves 2Jan 03, 2008 4:59 pm something here?

There is a pic on The Storage Shop's website of EXACTLY what I'm talking about. The Storage Shop calls them "Full Extension Drawers" and are designed to be in cuboards. Hopefully I can find them somewhere in MLB. Thanks very much! Fiona Re: Cupboards with Roll-Out Shelves 8Jan 03, 2008 6:13 pm Fiona….got you!

I like the idea of them and want to use them for my kitchen, too, to maximise use of the space. And be more organised. ![]() Not entirely sure what look you are after but check out and investigate the 'rationell' series from ikea. They look pretty nifty to me. http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/series/08078/ [sneakersss] Re: Cupboards with Roll-Out Shelves 10Jan 08, 2008 9:36 pm I have them in my present kitchen, great stuff but i still feel draws are better. the next house will have drawers in the kitchen. I think they can be easily retrofitted. check the blum or heittich websites as most manufacturers source the hardware from them.
good luck! Re: Cupboards with Roll-Out Shelves 11Jan 09, 2008 6:16 pm if you really want them you could probably just install draws in your standard cabinets.
You can get draw kits for 400 through 900 cab sizes which is base, runners/sides, back plate, you could easily add a laminate front on (use back plate as a template) then using the small fat screws (euro screws i think they are called) mount into the standard 32 drillings you have down the side for shelf/hinge mounting. You might want to put the draw kit back one hole on the runner that mounts to the cab (the draw runners will have like 3 holes front and back). Even with out the standard 32 holes down the side of the cabs you could install it just takes a little measuring up. The biggest issue i can see is you will need the hinges that open the door fully not just approx 100 degrees. If you go the DIY option it might not be to bad but generally buying those retail storage solution kits are very much overpriced i have found. Personally i think draws are a better solution because you dont have to open a cupboard then open a draw, draw fronts can be made as nice kits so come as a pack of three, our new place the bottom and top draws have three sides with a nice bevel where as the middle only has it on the sides. These type of pull out pantries are much better when the drawers are attached to a front door plate. This way you just pull one thing open and everything is accessible.
