Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 09, 2011 11:08 pm Hi... I am looking to use either burnished wood or mocha ash in our kitchen/scullery/Laundry for our cupboards and a white stone top. I have trawled through this forum looking for these colours in particular. Have you used these colours in your laundry/kitchen or bathroom and would you mind sharing. Many kitchens are white.. which I love but my husband does not. so I am looking for inspiration for kitchens in darker colours... thanks Re: Kitchen bathroom or laundry in Burnished Wood or Mocha A 2Apr 09, 2011 11:24 pm Hi Lot927, My partner and i were in a similar predicament. i loved the idea of a crisp white kitchen and rob wanted something a bit more darker. so we have compromised. We have chosen burnished wood throughout our kitchen, galley and laundry as well as in the powder room and all ensuites. The overhead cupboards in the main kitchen is a gloss polar white laminate (my compromise . We have an osprey caesarstone top to all cabinetry (except the laundry which is laminate benchtop.) I haven't got a picture of the finished product as we are onlyh just about to start our build but feel free to click on my blog link to see the colour and tile selection together. We have chosen to use the same laminate throughout the house and stone tops for continuity and by this time i can tell you i was sick of looking at all different combinations. i figured we can just dress with accessories to differentiate the areas. (also just as an extra note: my other half only just told me now that where we are currently staying has the same benchtops and cupboard colour as the main bathroom..i didn't even notice!) I have used wall tile and splashback to make each area unique...for example i have a raspberry colour splashback in the main kitchen and in the galley and laundry have used just a 400 x 100 gloss white tile. Think this makes the galley and laundry much crisper and accentuates the white stone top. IF you go to a thread called show us your splashback you'll see a display home kitchen there (i think it is page 17?) which is where i drew my inspiration from. I'll see if i can find it for you... I do like the darker colours at the bottom.. if you see in my blog there is a picture of the one in the display home with the dark/light/red tones.. we will change how the rangehood is and have a concealed rangehood with overhead cupboards.. not sure if I should do dark ones at top.. or dark with frosted glass or contrast colours... would love to see pics as you progress..just joined your blog so I can follow along! Have a look at my blog for pics, and if you need anything specific, let me know! I've used mocha ash in the ensuite, bathroom, laundry and kitchen. We have friends that used the burnished wood, with the ice snow (http://ourmonaco32.blogspot.com/). Do you have soft-close drawers where you need to give them a little yank to open? Are you happy with them? They're just what I'm thinking of getting so I'm keen to know what you think. Thanks, Pippi Re: Kitchen bathroom or laundry in Burnished Wood or Mocha A 7Apr 10, 2011 12:47 pm Pippi Shelley, your kitchen looks great. I'm curious about your handles - are they easy to open? Thanks, Pippi Hi Pippi, I gather you're talking about SarahQ's house (the monaco blog-my blog is in my signature)? From what I've experienced of their's, the handles actually come out a fair way, so there is no problem with grabbing hold of them. I don't think that they have soft-close handles, but the drawers do seem to glide easily, regardless of the weight in the drawers. Cheers, Re: Kitchen bathroom or laundry in Burnished Wood or Mocha A 8Apr 10, 2011 3:25 pm we did burnished wood around the fridge unit and back bench, and sides of the breakfast bar. The breakfast bar is in a swirly laminex viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35307&start=1280 page 65 there are some more on page 67 I think. we didnt use it as a drawer front though, used gentle beige, which is a deep white. breakfast bar Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I KNOW!!!
