Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 09, 2011 5:24 pm I have been in my house 5 months now and my splashback has bothered me the whole time. When I did pre-start, we had a "standard" builders range of glass splash backs to choose from. I chose one that blended in with the colour of my benchtops. It was a sample and that's what I picked as I liked the colour. I knew nothing about natural glass or starfire glass then and just assumed, as I had to pick from a bunch of samples that the sample is what I would get. Our splashback went in and it is on natural glass which has definately given it a different colour (it was a beigy/white colour and now is a greyish/blue colour) I've tried to live with it, but I really don't like it and have just spoken to the builder. Apparently it's too bad as I had to have requested starfire. I had no idea at the time about starfire glass and when you are given a bunch of samples to choose from, you'd think you'd get what you picked. Not the case so they say. Would you fight this, or just give up. I mean, you don't go anywhere else and pick from samples and expect them to come back different. Re: Splashback help, well after the fact! 2Apr 09, 2011 5:51 pm Rizzo, we went and picked our splashback colour this morning. We were AMAZED at the difference in the same colour in a sample sized 5cm x 5cm and then in a sample sized 30cm x 30cm. Thanks to being educated by this forum, I asked for Starfire glass. And that is what I was quoted on. If you are unhappy enough with the glass to ask the question about replacing it, I would take it further. It is something you are going to see every day for many years to come. Good luck! Re: Splashback help, well after the fact! 3Apr 09, 2011 6:01 pm Thanks emeri, I've e-mailed them again to let them know I'm not happy. I mean, what's the point in picking a colour if you don't get that colour? We were never told it would be different, simple. I would expect if you have to choose from a bunch of samples, then you would have them in both glasses so clients can see the difference, or at least let them know! I'm furious now as it has bothered me for months and I've tried living with it... but I hate it It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 9009 Finally got the Soakwell at my house sucked out. Now I’m looking for ideas on how to hide it as it’s a bit of an eye sore.
