Re: caesarstone 5Mar 25, 2012 5:14 am When looking at colours for our place I put Laminex Fossil cupboards with Almond Rocca and it looked good, but ended up using Polytec Classic White Sheen with Ice Snow. If you haven't made any choices yet may I suggest you use mid to dark granite for your bench. The first place we built I had cupboards in 2pac Antique White (which looked cream) with a dark brown granite and it looked great. The building company offered 20mm caesarstone for this new house and as I was having wooden floors and light grey walls I went for the all white kitchen and upped the stone to 40mm but am not in love with it. If I am chopping carrot or red capsicum and some goes on the bench it marks, if I sit newspaper on the end of the bench ready for the bin or a Scanpan saucepan on it, it leaves dark marks. If you don't wipe these off immediately you need to use lots of elbow grease to remove said stains. Also, every night when I wash up I wipe the whole island bench-2800x1000-with hot soapy water and next morning you can see all these marks on it. I am not a clean freak and hubby thinks I'm silly but I CAN SEE THE MARKS! If I live long enough and have the spondoolies (clue to my age) to build another place the kitchen benches will either be granite or whatever kiwi has on her island bench. I just used laminex / formica ornamental expresso on breakfast bar http://www.thelaminexgroup.co.nz/pdf/pr ... inside.pdf bottom right Comes in black and white but mine is brown swirlies and is gloss, and burnished wood Matt on bench. But I recon they look so darn hot because they are 100 mm thick That is what makes a kitchen chunky if using Formica etc Try wiping your bench down with a spray bottle of half white vinegar and water and a dryish microfiber cloth..no streaks Re: caesarstone 7Mar 25, 2012 9:38 am Yes it is your breakfast bar I adore and thanks for the cleaning tip. Will give it a go later, actually much later as I am home alone on Sunday morning so bugger the work. Regards, Grumbles |
