Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 28, 2011 4:43 pm Got any tips for how to get the best price on an appliances/sink/tap package? I've tried a few places for quotes and I'm sick of being told 'No point me giving you a quote yet. Go elsewhere, gather your quotes and come back to me, I'll beat it.' Honestly, I feel like crossing these places off my list altogether! I'm getting sick of salespeople who won't help unless they're likely to make a sale that day! Don't they realise they have the chance to make an impression with good customer service that will lead me to come back when I'm ready to buy! Grrrr. (Rant over. Sorry about that...) Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 2Feb 28, 2011 5:32 pm Hi Pippi, Get your prices for the items you'd like on the web. Put the package together and then add up the best prices on-line, regardles of where they would be coming from. Then go in with that price as your "package" Tell them you've been around to a bunch of stores on sale and got their sale prices. They will at least do the calculation for what they can do. If they say they can't match it, tell them you might be able to go a little higher just to have the convenience of getting it all from one place. They should at least give you the price they calculated and you can start from there. I'm sure you will be surprised how far they can come down. As an example, I recently wanted to buy a big 3D TV. The one I wanted was listed at $2299 in just about all stores. I looked it up on the web. One place was selling for $1599 because they were running out. I called and in-fact they were out of stock. I went to JB and asked them if they could match it - knowing the other store was out of stock. They told me they could beat it and sold it to me for $1520. Give it a shot!! I previously used other larger chains stores yet they lack the service & knowledge - And i also got better pricing through specialists stores. Give that go and see how you go Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 4Mar 03, 2011 1:26 pm Thanks Eskay and Appliance Guru, I'll do what you've both suggested. Appliance Guru, I do know what you mean about ES but what set me off the other day happened at the GGs! I was after their quote so I could take to a specialist place where I received very helpful advice and service when I first started researching which products I wanted. Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 5Mar 03, 2011 2:07 pm With that response i wouldnt hesitate to go to the specialist and you will get the best package price anyway. Majority of GG's sell a box with a price and dont want to know you after that - Remember service before & after is VERY important + specialists will have better quality products and wont be driven on commission like chain stores. If i happened to find a better price i would always present it to the specialist as from what you are saying have done all the work. I know what i would be doing..... Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 6Mar 04, 2011 10:23 am Where are some of these specialist stores you guys are talking about? It is either appliancesonline or onlineappliances dot com dot au. We got our Bosch dishwasher from them as the GG's couldn't go anywhere near their online price. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 8Mar 04, 2011 10:58 am Couldn't disagree more with your comments on E&S Trading. Without doubt the best package deal i could find - just walked in and started talking. Got all I wanted when I wanted it plus follow ups post installation. Blackburn outlet. I admittedly had done a lot of research on the net and knew what prices I was looking for but virtually no arm twisting by me to do just as well. And No have nothing to do with them. cheers barkly Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 9Mar 04, 2011 12:21 pm Eskay, a few Melbourne specialist stores I can think of are: Berloni Appliances in Heidelberg Elite Appliances in Armadale, Hawthorn and Abbotsford Prestige Appliances Kyton, I'm with you on appliancesonline - got a washing machine from them a month ago, great price and service. Other stores were offering a lesser model at a higher price. Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 10Mar 04, 2011 1:53 pm Are you or any of your family members of a union? If you are then use the Union Shopper facility. I have just done this for an oven, rangehood, fridge, microwave and dishwasher package and saved around $2000 on the best price/quote I got online/in store. Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 11Mar 04, 2011 2:49 pm Would have to disagree with the Online pricing comment - If you brought an online price to a specialist they will beat it (VERY UNUSUAL) as i have done it for a few items As long as you have proof - And if i needed something afterwards i had a point of contact to go to (going through the product etc) Online companies/ unions do not provide this aftersale service barkly Pricing on the net individually to package pricing will always be different - i doubt you got pricing everywhere as i have had better pack prices at specialists then E&S (But good to hear you had a good experience, because myself and others have not) OVERALL - BE VERY CAREFUL BUYING ONLINE Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 12Mar 06, 2011 11:37 pm Goodguys, we went in just before Xmas with a ok price, then after xmas sale was on got even better and i mean bottom dollar, its all about the timing to save... Re: Any tips on getting the best quote for appliance package 13Apr 07, 2011 3:34 pm Barkly was right - E&S Blackburn are great! I'm sure going in when it's quiet during the week helps, but I am so impressed with the service and price I got there. I'd been put off by their website pricing but armed with some other quotes I got a competitive quote from a lovely saleswoman. Gosh it's a relief to have the kitchen stuff out of the way! Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life.
