The single sink on our island is on the right hand side of our 3.2m bench. I have asked the builder to put the join across the centre of the sink. I also asked them to put the join on the other bench across the double sink. They have said that this costs more but they are absorbing the cost. Before I gave them the go-ahead to put the joins at the sink I thought I had better check that I wasn't just making this up. Awesome - thanks for your help!!! Re: STONE bench-Would you be fussed about the location of a 22Mar 17, 2011 12:54 pm Should not have a join then if it is under 3m We can do no join upto 3.2m. In some engineered stone colours. And in mist granites it is 3.6 odd Re: STONE bench-Would you be fussed about the location of a 23Mar 17, 2011 11:35 pm My island is 3.2m so it needs a join. The bench along the other side is over 4 metres. So, need a join there also. I've given them the go ahead to put the joins across the sinks. Re: STONE bench-Would you be fussed about the location of a 24Mar 27, 2011 3:44 am This is the one thing that has caused us so much grief. We have just had our benches put in (we had Laminex), and only now have found out that the maximum length of a sheet without a join is 3m. They have put our join in the middle of the main part of the bench and it stands out terribly. We've asked the builders to change it to the other end, where it can be easily disguised, but they are saying it is too near the sink, and won't do it. They are going to get the cabinet makers back to try and make it look 'better'.....!!! We are now looking at other options where a join may be less obvious (Essastone etc.). Any ideas would be welcome. The only choices really are in a free space of bench or near the sink. I'm going for the sink. Re: STONE bench-Would you be fussed about the location of a 28Mar 29, 2011 11:45 pm Hi GroovyOne, We've decided to change the light coloured laminex benchtop for a darker mottled laminex one, but have insisted that the join be at the sink end. They guy at the laminex place said that the darker option would hide the join more. It's about 25cm away from the sink, so shouldn't get too much water. I can see the issue with the join. If it's right near the sink that would be risky. Hope they fix it so it looks better for you Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic).
