Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 5Feb 21, 2011 4:58 pm Thanks guys. I'll need to check my oven short-list to see if closed door grilling is supported. It's killing me because I'd prefer a wall mounted oven but it's a sacrifice for bench space! Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 6Feb 21, 2011 5:46 pm We have a Bosch with the grill inside. The manual says to grill with the door shut. It hasn't been a problem. I also wanted a separate grill like we had in our old oven, but this new one hasn't really been a bother. Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 7Feb 21, 2011 8:22 pm I found this ridiculous when I was buying a new oven. No separate griller. I am sort of used to it now but I hate it. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 8Feb 21, 2011 8:33 pm miss_ticky2 We have a Bosch with the grill inside. Strangely my kids don't love grilled cheese on toast, and I don't eat it, so DH is the main one that uses it. Occasionally I'll have an oven dish which requires some quick grilling at the end, in those cases it's actually easier to have the grill in the oven cause I just flick the switch over. Closed door grill has become the standard almost and is much more effective to keep moisture as pointed out earlier. I think they call it "cavity cooling" for when they have a fan to keep the external cabinets cool. I know Bosch uses this feature. Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 12Feb 27, 2011 5:43 pm We've never used our griller and never will - spatter and mess in my oven doesn't appeal. Instead, we use our George Foreman grill (perfect for toasted sangers too) or the BBQ. Or a stovetop cast-iron griddle pan. Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 13Mar 04, 2011 3:22 pm My husband wants me to take what is standard (Blanco all in one cooker) and by a seperate toaster-oven thingy for cheese on toast and cooking garlic bread. I objected to the 900mm ovens on the grounds that it seems like such a big space to heat up if you a just wanting to cook something small. But the cost of requesting something different to standard (not that we've been given a price from the builder) plus a wall oven tower seems to be excessive. He tells me if I'm worried about using extra power we will install Photo Voltaics in a few years. Still sulking but will probably go with it. Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 14Apr 09, 2011 10:42 pm I want a wall oven with a seperate drawer grill - the only common sense way to grill as far as I can see... However, the only one available (in the whole world it seems) - is the westinghouse, and unfortunately it feels really cheap - so will have to go with a grill in the oven and dont like that idea AT ALL....I use the grill alot and at the same time as the oven...so will have to get a double oven - which seems total overkill - got an old simpson at the moment and it has a drawer grill..love it.... I've been having this argument in my head for a few weeks now (I get very obsessive at researching something new), we currently have seperate griller/oven. I went to a Neff cooking demonstration and the lady there said you can really grill and kinda cook at the same time - she asked what we would cook as an example, I said pototoes (be it roast, scallop or wedges) and then cook loin chops or marinated chicken - she said well wouldn't you normally be cooking the potatoes first, then start grilling later? I said yes, she said well then you would do the same, then flick the oven over to grill with fan (which forces the heat from griller to move around the oven) which will ensure that your potoatoes stay hot, whilst you then grill. Seems like sound logic.... And since i learnt about pyro ovens & I hate cleaning the oven and then i think that I will be grilling in the oven, I think that pyro is a higher priority than the double, (I think??? ) Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 16Apr 11, 2011 7:12 pm kel72 And since i learnt about pyro ovens & I hate cleaning the oven and then i think that I will be grilling in the oven, I think that pyro is a higher priority than the double, (I think??? ) I agree...pyro is absolutely great! Only used mine once so far (only because I kept putting it off because I was scared of all the high heat it generates - which didn't affect my cupboards at all..lol). And I've never found grilling in the oven a problem, even though I came from a separate grill. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another oven with the grill inside. Mine's a Bosch, but we looked at Neff too..they were nice Re: Question about griller inside oven, not separate 17Apr 11, 2011 8:15 pm I hear what you all say... but I just think it is archaic to have to either keep the door open, or close it and then attach a handle to pull out the grill tray.......a drawer grill is so logical I cannot understand the lack of availability... but then again... everything I seem to want for the house - doesnt exist....
