We have just ordered our new kitchen cupboards and, while we wait, need to prepare the rest of the kitchen ready for the install. We have removed one wall and mantle which had a lowered ceiling (fridge recess) and so now have about 3 m long section of ceiling misssing. We plan on putting in a bulkhead above the cupboards in this spot.
Hubby would like to put it in now, but I am worried that it will make putting the cupboards in difficult. We have the tall pantry cupboards and oven tower going in here and it would not give us much room to maneuver them. Particultarly not knowing how plumb the floor and ceilings are. Is it better to wait until cupboards are in? Or can we build the bulkheads with a centimetre or two to spare and then fill any unsightly gaps?
Also, is it best to reinstate the missing ceiling in this spot, and then add the bulkhead independent to this. Or can we just use the bulkhead as the ceiling in this spot so that the inside of the bulkhead is open to the roof space? Hope that makes sense.
Cheers
