Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Underbench Mircrowave? 24Feb 10, 2011 12:48 pm To the OP, if you are worried about the resale/safety issues, perhaps you could do it underbench but have a lift up door on it? One that slides into the cabinet when the microwave is in use? Then pulls down to look like a regular cupboard when not in use. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Underbench Mircrowave? 25Feb 10, 2011 10:28 pm Not really concerned about safety to be honest, most microwaves have a child lock if it was a problem, i just really wasn't sure if people considered them normal or not because i love mine being hidden under the bench, but i figured i might just be different, especially after i read a thread very negative towards them... I will be putting it underbench, anywhere else will just look funny. Re: Underbench Mircrowave? 26Feb 11, 2011 10:32 am I'm not a fan of underbench microwave ovens as I hate getting a face full of steam/heat when I open the door. This is also one of the many reasons I prefer wall ovens. We also have a youngster and was constantly trying to press buttons and open the microwave as he sees me using it so often. I too now have the microwave in the pantry and love it there. Having said that. I don't think such a small detail would figure in the sale/valuation of the property, so (in the one for sale) put it where it will make the most of the space. Re: Underbench Mircrowave? 28Feb 15, 2011 4:57 pm Good choice, I work at a very large Kitchen company and we sell just as many under bench microwave units (possibly more) then your standard above bench units. |
