Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Laminex Floors 2May 19, 2006 12:51 pm Are you talking about floating laminate board flooring?
In my experience it is slippery, noisy and it scratches. The last one I walked on was owned by a very disappointed couple. It may buy cheaper than tile, I don't know about installation costs - but value for money is definitely in tiles. Respect, all. Earl Re: Laminex on kitchen floor? 3May 19, 2006 2:08 pm Thanks Earl. Actually, I don't know what sort of laminate I'm talking about, I've got a brochure from Laminex and the picture of it looks OK (what a complete amateur I am...), I would like something on the floor that's uninterrupted (for a lack of a better word), ie. one whole slab of something as opposed to small tiles. What Laminex is that? 4May 19, 2006 2:18 pm Hi mek,
If you post the name or style Laminex have put on the brochure I can find out more about it. Cheers, Earl Re: Laminex on kitchen floor? 5May 20, 2006 3:41 pm Mek - assuming you are talking about floating floors, I am with you. I can't decide whether it looks tacky or not. My latest thinking is that some of it looks okay in relatively small doses, i.e. I wouldn't do a large area in floating floor but maybe a smallish family room. It does look nicer than shabby carpet though, and it is cheaper than new carpet.. (floor on the title page) Still don't know what it is, if anyone can help? Lam inate Flooring 7May 21, 2006 5:37 pm Hey mek,
Has someone specifically told you that floor is laminate? Because I'm not sure that it is... I think it might more likely be painted or an off the roll surface cover such as vinyl. See how the same colour is in the next room? There is no way you would get a sheet of laminate that big, so it would mean joins, which would be a real dog...either that or back to the floating floor idea, which still has joins...woof... Vinyl is great stuff for kitchen floors. It comes in lots of colours, it is strong, has a bit of give and is easy to work with. It is also cheap. Just some thoughts there. Respect, all.
