Re: Kitchen mixer taps - splurge or not? 43Apr 22, 2011 6:38 pm Hi Pippi, If your budget can stretch, I say go for it! If not, you can always update later. We chose designer tapware for all our sinks because I know me, I'm lazy and couldn't be fagged changing later. This is the one we chose for the Kitchen sink Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. We're looking for a square double undermount sink but I don't want the very very sharp corners which is all I can find at the moment. Hi Becks, This is taken from a display home, just to give an idea of the tap we have ordered. Sorry, no idea what the brand of sink is. But I know Smeg has something similar... http://www.smeg.com.au/Product-327-_2_Bowl_Squareline_Undermount_Sink__LSTQ862.aspx Hope this helps __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Kitchen mixer taps - splurge or not? 48Apr 26, 2011 1:57 am Thanks sanjha187, we had considered the Oliveri one but they take up more bench space (width-wise) than we can really spare, beautiful sink though. I prefer the more rounded (Oliveri Monet) look but hubby prefers square. We've been warned that too square a sink will get really grimey at the creases and I'm worried about the hygeine factor. Re: Kitchen mixer taps - splurge or not? 52Jan 17, 2012 5:41 pm I personally feel there is no need to spend so much on the kitchen mixer taps when you can get the same quality at a reasonable price. I bought kitchen mixer taps from and they are quite good, both look wise and quality wise. Re: Kitchen mixer taps - splurge or not? 53Jun 06, 2013 12:55 pm I disagree. I've opted for the cheaper alternative before and it simply did not last. I got my current stuff from Tapware Centre (http://tapwarecentre.com/collections/kitchen-mixer) a couple of years back, I'd really recommend them. Re: Kitchen mixer taps - splurge or not? 54Jun 09, 2013 1:21 pm Ill add my 2c in as we were in the same boat...the kitchen especially in open plan houses is perhaps the most standout area, not to mention the most used as well. We upgraded our entire kitchen right from 40mm stone benchtops to SMEG appliances and a very expensive Abey cubo sink, but the selected the standard tap from the builder as had limited offerings and at full retail+margin prices. So we'll wait to move in and change the tap to suit our sink's square design. Just a note, from experience look for tap with an integrated lever (to turn it off and on) instead of a screwed in lever, these tend to fall out after continued use(2 of our friends have some high end ones and both have had the same problem) for eg. former over the later as the cylindrical lever comes off/get loose in time Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
