They can also dull shiny surfaces - so you must be careful

I have used it on everything, walls, to get rust off mirrors, small amounts of sillicon of glass. A tradie spilt some straight red cordial on a cs bench and didn't clean it up it was there for at least a weekend and when i got to it it was a huge red stain, magic eraser even got that off (though it did use up alot). If you have it in your mind that it is a sponge and would last as long as one you will be disappointed, it will look like it is ready to throw arter just a few uses but don't, you can use each piece until it no longer exists. I can't say how long that is because it will depend on how hard you press on it and what you are using it on etc. If you get the big block I would suggest breaking off a piece about 4-5cm wide, that seems to be a good size to handle. you might be tempted to go smaller to save it but there is no need as I said because you don't throw it away.
