Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 02, 2011 2:57 pm I can't decide whether to have matte or gloss or satin vinyl wrap doors. My kitchen does not have any windows (middle of house) and I'm wanting to reflect as much light as possible. I'm worred that Satin or Gloss may show hand and fingerprint marks. I will have handles on my cupboards and am thinking about Diamond Finish laminex benchtops in either Antarctic Stone (cream/white)or Andalucian Marble (greys). Am also considering Metaline splashback Any ideas? Re: vinyl wrap doors - shiny or not? 2Feb 02, 2011 3:47 pm On the Polytech website you can order samples in each finish, and you can specify large ones so you get a better idea of the difference (they're about 15 x 20cm). As far as fingerprints go, you get a good idea of how the different surfaces mark just by handling the samples a bit. Re: vinyl wrap doors - shiny or not? 4Feb 02, 2011 4:45 pm I like glossy i think if you get white fingermarks will always show no matter what the surface texture, although I'm sure the degree does vary. I do know gloss wipes off marks a lot easier than normal finish laminate which tends to be a bit stippled and traps dirt more. not sure on the satin. Very easy to clean and ours doesn't show fingerprint marks ... we have large handles, maybe that helps? Some vinyls do come in a pearl or textured finish that will not show up finger prints at all. By far the most popular is gloss. hope that helps With 25 years kitchen experience and a passion for what I do, I have joined this forum to offer advice or at least my opinion on all things relevant to kitchens.
