Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 24, 2011 5:35 pm Hi all, Having finalized my decision regarding benchtop and cupboards colors (CS linen and Dulux natural white), I faced a problem deciding on whether it would be better to tile kitchen floor instead of installing a laminated floor. The problem is mostly related to the fact that I have an "opened space" kitchen, adjacent to lounge area, wherein I will have malted oak laminated floor, and cannot find any tiles that would match both my benchtop and the laminated board. Did anyone have the same issue? If yes, do you have any pictures to share with me? Would it be better to match the color of the tiles to the color of the benchtop or to the adjacent laminated floor? It seems like the most wise decision is to have the laminated floor all way through the lounge and the kitchen. Will there be any issues with laminated board in the kitchen, especially related to water or grease? Much appreciate for all your answers! Re: Laminated board or tiles on the floor? 2Jan 25, 2011 7:31 am Hi - we opted for the laminate as we thought it might look too busy with different floor coverings. We have 2 toddlers so spills happen frequently - just as long as you're quick to mop it up you shouldn't have any prombems. We had floating timber floors in our last house, only issues we had were in areas where the boards hit 'outdoor' areas, ie at the back sliding doors. Moisture from rain got in and we did have some minor cupping at these points. Not really that noticable to the eye, but they squeaked when you walked on them. Same goes for where the boards met the bathroom tiles.
