Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 21, 2008 8:18 pm Hi folks
We are currently building with * here in the West, and all is going well, we have just hit lockup. Unfortunately the colour we chose at pre-start for our benchtop is no longer made by Formica so we need to re-select in order to keep things moving. We are after a little advice from the colour experts out there The cupboards are Cappuccino (Pearl) from Formica, and the floor is a reddish timber known as Ironwood. We also have a chrome/silver coloured tile splash back (actual tile name is Alpax). The previous colour we had chosen was Winter Craze (Pearl) from Formica. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated -Matt n Megan Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 8Jul 21, 2008 9:43 pm Thanks for the suggestions so far, just for anyone playing at home there are heap more options here http://www.formica.com.au/colourcollection.aspx Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 9Jul 21, 2008 9:45 pm those tiles are lovely. hmm would you prefer to go lighter or darker than your original colour if you couldn't get soemthing thesame tone level, That cordoba stone above and to the right is nice. But is it too busy? assuming the rest of those colours also haven't gone out of date as well.
Or perhaps cocoa sand or the concrete. Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 10Jul 21, 2008 10:12 pm We don't have any real objections to going darker, we just want to highlight both the reddish floor and the splashback since the tiles are very modern we think, and we have all stainless steel appliances.. We quite like the autumn stone

It isn't as warm as the original colour you had chosen though. You'll might have to consider your paint colours carefully so the door cabinets have something else in warmer tones for them to go with.
As madmel said below: the milky way might stop the kitchen area looking too dark, lightening it up. It might also stop it being too grey. The cupboard doors might not seem so out of place (all the grey) if you chose this colour. We are all trying to guess what the real colours look like and assuming our screens are showing them accurately, something Michelle has often warned us that they do not always do. I think the benchtops need to be quite light to contrast with the cupboards and splashback. But that's just my tastes!!!!!

We should do a post from start to where we are now I've replaced your bench top colour with Umbrian Granite. I think it lightens the look. Judie Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 14Jul 22, 2008 3:41 am I like the Umbrian Granite.... but I am no colour expert....I had a hard enough time just trying to choose the front colours.
Going OT here, but what roof tiles have you chosen? They look very nice. Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 15Jul 22, 2008 7:42 am My vote is for the lsat one. - Umbrian Granite
I think it fits best to all the colours Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 16Jul 22, 2008 7:54 am We have umbrian granite - it's horrible only for the fact that you simply cannot see the crumbs.
So when you think you've done a good job cleaning the benchtop, there's another !@#$%^ crumb. So, it's great camouflage if you're not the fussiest of cleaners, but the worst to have, if you are. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 17Jul 22, 2008 8:01 am I do like the last one. But if the crumb problem is going to be an issue for you. I think as long as you choose something light to lift the colours i don't think you could go wrong. Building with Porter Davis since October 2007 - what a nightmare!!! Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 18Jul 22, 2008 8:12 am that looks nice Judie and the bit of yellowish-brownish colour in it also will go nicely with the flooring. it ties it all in. Now all they need to do is see some of the big a4 samples at a formica place. amazing how different things look with those sometimes. Looks like we've all given you a few possible colours. I'd go and check them all out in RL and see which looks best in a large sample piece with your tiles and cupboard colour. Going OT here, but what roof tiles have you chosen? They look very nice. Hi monkey The roof tiles are Cobblestone Manor Shingles - http://www.harmonyrooftiles.com.au/mktg/manor_sh.html We really like how they have come up too, something just a little different Re: Benchtop Colour Help! 20Jul 22, 2008 8:52 am I don't think the cupboards go with this bench top....sorry I don't think this goes with the cupboards either Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Might be time to change the cupboards, they have a taupe/purple tinge to them that is fighting with the grey/silver. Paula Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly. Silicone is the wrong product to fill them… 2 12926 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3275 |
