Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 17, 2011 2:31 pm Hi, I have faced a dilema - cannot choose between three colors of caesarstone for my kitchen: ice snow, nougat or linen. My cabinets will be off white, the splashback will be in color very similar to linen caesarstone. The laminated floor will be a bit dark. Therefore I have faced a problem of choosing between 1) a kitchen in all white, including benchtop (again- nougat or ice snow? A kitchen designer tells me that nougat will not look nice, since it has big stones inside, which may create a look of "broken benchtop"), or 2) a white kitchen with linen caesarstone benchtop matching the splashback. Does anyone have a similar choice problem? Has anyone used ice snow, nougat, or linen caesarstone for a kitchen corner? Sorry for mixing everything up, but I am desperate, since have to indicate the colours without knowing what is best. I will appreciate all you thoughts regarding the above. Thanks! Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 2Jan 17, 2011 2:41 pm I’m not sure about having a white benchtop with offwhite cupboards, so that would eliminate ice snow for me for starters… nougat is a lovely colour, I think whoever told you it would look like a broken benchtop is wrong. I think Suh has got Nougat benchtops and her kitchen is universally admired a one of the best on the forums… (I’m pretty sure it’s nougat... can anyone confirm?) My sister has moleskin (off white) cupboards, a linen benchtop and slightly darker tiles as a splashback, it looks great. I think whichever you personally like best out of linen or nougat would work well. But I will vote for linen. Something inside me was voting against this color as well! Now my choice is narrowed to nougat and linen, thank you! The only thing I worry about with linen - that my kitchen corner will look too dark with linen-like splashback and with dark laminated floor. Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 4Jan 17, 2011 3:09 pm You’re welcome, glad I could be of some help! Linen isn’t that dark a colour, I don’t think. The offwhite cupboards will lighten up the room a lot. My sister has Tassie oak floorboards with hers so not a light coloured floor, but prob not as dark as your laminate… if you’re still not sure then maybe nougat is the way to go! does the splashback colour pick up on one of the flecks in the nougat? If it did, that would go really nicely I reckon "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. If it did, that would go really nicely I reckon Yes, one of the flecks in the nougat has exactly the same color as the splashback, that is why I picked this color from the rest of caesarstone colors. My laminate will be in Malted oak. I am always thinking either way: will my kitchen be too dark is I use linen, or will my kitchen be too light is I use nougat Hard decision to make I must say But thanks for your thoughts, you helped me a lot! Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 6Jan 17, 2011 4:27 pm A kitchen can never be too light. Nougat is a lovely colour. Or maybe if you use linen CS then why not an off white splashback to match your cupboards, but make sure they use starfire glass. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. Unfortunately I cannot use any other color of the splashback, since I have the tiles for it already. That's why I am trying to find a good color solution that would fit the existing colors I start to think that nougat is the best color for me It's a pity I cannot find any samples of nougat CS benchtop... Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 9Jan 17, 2011 8:15 pm grinder Black and metalic grey are good colours and contrast well with all white kitchen then again having used this colours you can then use a lighter colour for splashback I would definitely use a lighter splashback, but unfortunately, I already have the tiles for the splashback. I have always wanted a white kitchen for myself, therefore I am considering the color of the benchtop that would fit both white cabinets and linen-like splashback. Do you have an idea of how the kitchen with the same color of benchtop and a splashback would look like? I tried to search the Internet but could not find any... Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 14Jan 17, 2011 9:24 pm I don't understand the "broken benchtop" comment. I picked my benchtops specifically because of the stone flecks. Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 15Jan 17, 2011 11:01 pm Thank you, Suh, for the pictures! Your benchtop and the cabinets look lovely together! That is something I am looking for! Is the nougat CS fine in maintenance, or is there any risk of stains from food, wine, etc? Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 16Jan 17, 2011 11:08 pm kek I don't understand the "broken benchtop" comment. I picked my benchtops specifically because of the stone flecks. Kek, I didn't understand it either! He was implying that the cut off caesarstone corners might create a look of holes inside of it due to existing flecks, or something like that. I believe that comment was made due to a higher price of nougat CS comparing to other CS types... Do you by any chance have a picture of your kitchen? I am eager to see the nougat CS at someone's kitchen corner Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 17Jan 18, 2011 8:03 am Brenchik, I've had a couple of instances with curry stains that were difficult to get off. You need to wipe anything like that off straight away. Some were left overnight but I was still able to remove them with Gumption. As for the cut off fleck thing, I sometimes look at the edges on mine and think "oh **** there's a hole" but it's just the lighter fleck which is kind of transparent still a strange thing for him to say, mine looks great and am very happy with it. Re: Color of caesarstone benchtop 18Jan 18, 2011 8:30 am Hi Brenchik, What colour exactly is your 'off white'? There are sooooo many different colours classed as 'white' that can be used as cupboards. Some are cool based and others are warm based. I have an off white kitchen, but the colour is warm based, not blue or yellow, it's ever-so-slightly pink. It's 'Alabaster'. I have used CS Ice Snow and absolutely love the look! For me, I wouldn't have wanted anything darker. The colour of the flecks in the CS compliments the colour of my cupboards and also ties it in with the colour of my splashback. I also have wall paint that is a warm taupe and ties it all together with the Alabaster cupboards, so there is another warm colour! I have halogen downlights over the bench whch are a warm yellow light, so the bench never looks stark white, so therefore doesn't look at all odd with the off white cupboards. My splashback is starfire glass, so no green tinge and the pantry doors are white. It's also really difficult to show the colours properly by photos, as the flash either washes out the colours, or the natural light casts a yellow glow on it. These are the best ones I can show you... I think the same thing with mine sometimes too. (CS Nova Aurora) but there are definitely no holes! Also, I saw my sister's kitchen again last night, she has linen benchtops with a much darker tile as splashback, not only slightly darker as I originally thought. It looks great. I definitely don't think the linen would be too dark, no matter how dark your floors are brenchik. any closer to a decision today? I know that there are too many "off white" colors The one that I am dreaming of is supposed to be a warm based, not yellow though. I have not made the final decision yet, will do that within the following few days. I have got a sample of a color from a kitchen designer, it is called "Carribean White", but I am not sure whether there is actually any similar paint to that in Bunnings....However, Alabaster looks quite similar to it!
