We've got Essa Stone bench tops in the kitchen which are almost white (Purity) that seem to absorb red wine and tea stains quite easily. Cleaner will get most of it eventually ...but not all. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same isssue....or if there is some coating that can be applied?? Cheers, Mark Re: Stains on Essa Stone 2Dec 08, 2007 2:28 pm Mark, unfortunately as great as the stones look, they are very absorbent.
Most people tend to forget this and treat stone as they would a Laminate. It’s very important to have chopping boards on your benchtops, this is were you should put any thing like red wine or tea! I would get in contact with Essa Stone and ask them what product they suggest to remove the stains. Some cleaning products are too abrasive for stone. You should have been given info such as this at the point of installation... http://www.essastone.com.au/productapplication.aspx It's generally prudent to follow suppliers' info, although I'd question some of their advice. Here's what I'd suggest.... Common-sense preventative measures should be followed. If there is contact with a staining substance, blot up immediately with paper towel., followed by a damp absorbant cloth. If staining remains, a paste made from water and poultice should be applied to stain, covered and left for about a day. After it has fully dried, remove poultice. If you don't have poultice, talcum powder may be substituted. I'll dig up some links with more info. Nanoscrub is an excellent product that you can use to maintain your surface. It might be possible to seal the surface, but probably not. Ash. Re: Stains on Essa Stone 5Dec 10, 2007 7:49 am Hi Ash & Michelle,
Thanyou for the info...much appreciated We tried some Mr Sheen and it seems to allow a lot longer before a anything bleeds into the stone. I'll buy some of the Poultice though, for the next time. It transformed the looks of me granite (although black, we had few watermarks near the sink)
