Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 25, 2010 9:08 pm I've only been in my new house for a few days but there are already some small dark stains on my caesarstone benchtop that I can't completely removed. I've also placed a small stainless steel dishrack on the benchtop which has a small amount of rust and I've noticed there are some orange marks there which I can't scrub off with Ajax. Has anyone got any recommendations on what to use? I feel like my new kitchen is starting to age within a few days. I've got caesarstone snow. Re: Stain on caesarstone 2Dec 26, 2010 9:03 am I also noticed a few misterious stains on our Ice Snow. Some in bathroom, where it looks like I (??) left a bottle or a glass with stainy bottom, so now I can detect the ring-shaped stains where the thing used to sit. Can't think of anything that size that I would have left there though . Also in the kichen, a small stain. They are all barely detectable and are also light orangey in colour like yours. The difference is that I haven't even tried to scrub them off (yet). My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Stain on caesarstone 9Dec 29, 2010 6:59 pm We have Osprey c/stone benches. I have had a few "mishap disasters" including permanent marker and I used Bicarb of soda. I got to that stain straight away so it all came off. I now keep a container under the sink filled with bicarb that I can reach quickly and I have had to use it a few times with perfect results. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Stain on caesarstone 10Dec 29, 2010 11:30 pm I was able to get off a stubborn rust stain on my cs osprey by using vinegar and bicarb soda. Just left it overnight and scrubbed off the following day and it's gone! Re: Stain on caesarstone 11Dec 30, 2010 6:32 am Themax, do you actually scrub it with soda, or just leave soda and plain water sitting on it and for how long (or soda and vinegar)? I hav just dicovered that last night I created a brand new stain . Currently just sprinkled with soda and water - still there !! If you scrub with soda, does the scrubbing affect the polish/gloss of the benchtop? Edit: Oh, just noticed that Pondsies leave it overnight with vinegar added ... same as you tm? It does not seem to affect the surface shine. I also use the C/stone cleaner that you can get from Woolies particularly for C/stone. It's in a grey bottle. I use that for general cleaning, seems to give the shine a boost. edit - I have not used Vinegar yet but I would if necessary for sure. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Stain on caesarstone 13Dec 30, 2010 11:45 am And while I was out and about chasing other "projects", I forgot that I left another round of soda and water soaking on the same stain for a few hours (after I wasn't totally happy that it totally disappeared, I think the stain "moved" the first time ). So, wiped it off and found out that a few far more noticable (dark) stains have appeared sporadically under that cocktail (soda + water) . And again, the stains "moved" !!! Final inspection after calming down - the original stain is still there My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Stain on caesarstone 15Jan 10, 2011 10:37 am Hi Caesarstone actually sell bottles of cream cleanser that you can buy online for about $15.99. The cleaning kit comes with a scotch brite which doesn't scratch or take any shine off your stone. I have used this before and it seems to get just about any stain off the stone. I had someone leave a spilled cup of tea and it left a terrible ring that hasn't come off yet - but strangely soy sauce left for days is fine! I've also found that orange oil works some times for metal marks. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Stain on caesarstone 18Jan 10, 2011 2:22 pm Hi Lex, I know that gumption and a scotch brite works very well on stainless steel sinks but I would be reluctant to steer you down a path that may damage your benchtop. Is it your benchtop you are referring too? I have a friend that is a stainless steel guru, he specializes in doing stainless steel fittings for boats, but he also does manufacture stainless steel benchtops. I have seen him polish scratches out of tops using cream polish and a thing that looks like a rather large rubber (eraser). I can certainly make a call and ask him what he exactly uses. I think the thing is with stainless benchtops, you are always going to have scratches no matter how careful you are. It's just one of those sorts of materials. I will try and find out more and let you know.
