Have you thought about that colour in mosaic tiles? You can have slumped glass with gorgeous patterns in it or alternatively something like mine which is a picture on the glass of our favorite place in the world. I remember your splashback Kyton...is it the scene of a bay?....it looked fantastic. My comments concerning glass splashbacks was about the "block" color approach. As I said above there are some people doing fantastic things with glass (including you). Yep Melrich ours is of Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu - somewhere that DH and I adore. We looked at glass ten years ago when we built our first home but back then it was new and reallllllllllly pricey!! But I fell in love with a slump glass splash - we were told we could customise the pattern by drawing / inserting any items into the sand used to make the pattern on the reverse side of the glass. It has always stuck in my head as something that could be amazingly special. In two of our previous homes we used starfire glass sprayed stainless steel which tied in with the colour schemes of those kitchens. This time I wanted something special that would highlight all the blue in our kitchen - hence the picture of the beach. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Suggestions please kitchen gurus! 16Nov 23, 2010 12:15 am we've also got polished concrete going in. I want my floors to be a feauture and whilst I want my kitchen to have a wow factor I also want it to blend in. Like yourself we will go mostly white except for splashback. I think you need to stick with an earthy colour to go with your floors. Which company/colour are you using for concrete? Re: Suggestions please kitchen gurus! 17Nov 27, 2010 10:03 am While 2pak cuboards look lovely, i have spoken to quite a few people lately who have them and dont like them. Apparently they chip very easily and are not little people friendly. Laminex do have 2 styles of gloss cpboards, they have the silk and another glossier type - not sure what its called. Perhaps worth checking out all 3 options and deciding which one suits you. I have gone for large (600x600m - oh i have actually seen 1200x600 tiles -WOW but have heard they are REALLY expensive to lay due to the difficulty in handling) rectified tiles for my splashback - thse are nice in my opinion, and have minimal grout - so easier for cleaning. Melrich, i love the suggestion re a colour consultant - i am terrible with visualizing colours together, so need all the help i can get.
