Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Black is the new Black 3Feb 06, 2006 10:22 am Hi Kara,
Black tiles can be as bad as black cars to keep clean. I have lived in a house with a black slate floor in a kitchen with gloss 40mm black granite tops and black tiled splash (everything else was gloss two pack red, yum yum - this was not MY KITCHEN). This kitchen ws gorgeous but if you have a thing about dust or hair or fluff showing up then you might possibly want to consider hiring someone to keep the floors clean. Then again, ANY flat colour plane will highlight irregularities and contaminants. All of the above applies equally to white white white bathrooms and I would personally put black black kitchens in the same category for required maintenance. Respect, all. Earl Re: Black Kitchen Tiles 4Feb 06, 2006 6:25 pm Thanks Strumer and Renomart,
Yes, I was hoping black tiles for the floor. I suppose a flat plain colour would accentuate those irregularities you mentioned. This is all too hard. I wonder when the next home show for ideas?? Maybe I should broaden my options and look at slate too, perhaps. Peace, Kara Re: Black Kitchen Tiles 5Feb 06, 2006 7:49 pm - what Earl said
- and I have a black car too Just another point to consider, strong lighting i.e halogen downlighting onto shiny black surfaces be it granite tops, tiled floors etc is always going to be a problem. Re: Black Kitchen Tiles 8Apr 12, 2006 7:12 pm Kara ...which begs the question: What type of lighting and lighting arrangement is recommended given my desire for black (or dark) kitchen flooring? Diffuse lighting (not strong, directed beams of light) I asked this question of one of the forum's resident cabinet makers who may/may not wish to identify himself to answer other questions if he sees this, but the rersponse… 3 7731 The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
