Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 02, 2010 12:39 pm Hi I am planning to shift my laundry outside on my pergola and convert it into an outdoor kitchen. I want to have the washing machine and dryer enclosed in cabinets Has anyone made an outdoor kitchen? What should I keep in mind when making one . eg.. type of material used etc.. A kitchen cabinet maker quoted me $1300 for a 1400x700 kitchen with 2 cabinets, each with 2 doors which can be locked.. Is this price ok? Re: Outdoor kitchen 2Nov 05, 2010 2:44 pm I guess the price will be dependent on the finish that you want. Most of the "outdoor" kitchens I've seen tend to be the modular stainless steel type. I would be a little concerned about moisture and rot with a traditional laminated board type kitchen Re: Outdoor kitchen 3Nov 18, 2010 12:14 pm I would definitely go with something other than wood. Stainless steel would be nice or some other material that withstand the moisture. I think this is a great idea, what other types of things are you thinking about doing? Re: Outdoor kitchen 4Nov 19, 2010 6:22 pm John Cena The kitchens in railway dining cars present special challenges: Space is constrained, and, nevertheless, the personnel must be able to serve a great number of meals quickly. Especially in the early history of railways this required flawless organization of processes; in modern times, the microwave oven and prepared meals have made this task much easier. Galleys are kitchens aboard ships or aircraft although the term galley is also often used to refer to a railroad dining car's kitchen.undermount sink Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ REPORTED Re: Outdoor kitchen 5Nov 19, 2010 8:47 pm It makes it difficult to rid the forum of spam when you quote things! I would choose another cabinet maker that price seems to way too high for an enclosing cabinet just you think perhaps the cabinets will cost you more than the new appliances combined. Outdoor kitchen? Wouldn't that be duplicating the already existing kitchen? Outside toilet for guest next? Re: Outdoor kitchen 8Nov 20, 2010 11:50 pm so it it an outdoor kitchen or outdoor laundry? Personally I wouldn't want my laundry outside but I guess it depends on how much time you spend doing washing!!! I would make sure you have room to store washing baskets, washing powder, etc. Recently moved to a 60's home in need of some improvement! http://s797.photobucket.com/user/leenii ... ch%20House Old house: http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy25 ... loo/House/ Re: Outdoor kitchen 9Nov 21, 2010 5:02 pm TheOK Bam It makes it difficult to rid the forum of spam when you quote things! Re: Outdoor kitchen 10Nov 21, 2010 5:09 pm hindipop, are you in Australia? The link in your sig suggests you may be in the U.S. with the spelling of "mom". Just wondering as comparing prices on this site would be irrelevant if you are in the states. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
