But the quality of Two Pack finishes can vary greatly depending on where the boards are produced and painted. There are some extremely cheap two pack finished kitchens being imported that have accordingly poor quality paint jobs. If a kitchen is manufactured in Australia there are standards that the manufacturer must comply to that are not applicable to some "similar" imported products. Two Pack paint is a resin which once it has hardened is quite strong and can produce a brilliant gloss in a range of colours. But it is also brittle and susceptible to chipping and scratching - especially along the edges of boards. One of the major advantages of two pack is that it can be applied to formed and routed doors, allowing a range of profiles and patterns to be incorporated onto the boards. In terms of cost it will vary, as stated previously, on how detailed (if any) a pattern and profile the boards have; the more complicated a pattern the more work the painter has to put into sanding and finishing each board. As a starting point though, if upgrading a costing for a kitchen quoted for colourboard doors and boards to two pack you can safely add 40% of the total kitchen price. In kitchen cabinetry most of the money is in the materials used for the benchtops and the doors. Of course these estimates are only based on the quality suppliers that we use here locally in Brisbane (and some of the major suppliers price books). Cheers, Earl We came across your post and it mirrors our situation. Have you progressed in the interim and would you have any advice for us?
