Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 26, 2010 11:56 am Hi everyone, We thought our kitchen renovation was all going according to plan - albeit still in the design phase - until our builder told us that the column we want to get rid of is load-bearing Now we need a structural engineer to tell us how to either 1) get rid of the column safely (without the rest of the house collapsing) or 2) make it into a smaller post & design the kitchen around it. Just PM me and I will give you a few numbers. If not try the Australian Institute of Engineers in your state. Or ask your builder to source an engineer for you.
