Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 43Dec 02, 2010 12:18 pm White kitchen, it's beautiful much. But it must be cleaned frequently. It makes me want the whole day cooking. I will change to white kitchen in next renovation. Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 44Dec 02, 2010 12:49 pm Actually black is much harder to keep clean than white in my experience. People are converting to white kitchen benchtops simply because they are easier to keep clean. Also scratches are a lot less noticable in white than dark, especially in gloss with light reflection. Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 45Dec 02, 2010 5:42 pm I've had a dark kitchen and a white kitchen and hands down the dark was harder to keep clean. With white, marks are easy to spot and get rid off. Finger prints are far less noticeable on the white surface than on the black, and scratches are less obvious too. I love my white kitchen. Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 46Dec 03, 2010 3:20 pm Have to agree also - the portion of my white kitchen is really surprising maintenance free... the black side however is another story...... every little child (and husband for that fact!) fingerprint leaves evidence! Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 47Dec 03, 2010 3:27 pm Oh I'm so glad you posted Moogles, I will procrastinating about using your colour scheme. I think I might go with part wood look for a small section, or just all white with the smoked mirror, purely for ease of cleaning. Are you still sucking it up because it looks good.. or do you now regret using the black? Have you chipped it yet? I've seen a few comments about it being so easy to chip. One of the guys working for hubby is actually a carpenter and has told him not to let me 2pak, lol. Although he recommends vinyl wrap which the builders have warned us not to use. Arrggghhh, how confusing is it! Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 48Dec 03, 2010 6:10 pm Great thread - Love all the white! We are building next year, DH wants a huge shed so the choice of kitchen is all mine, and it will be white. Mrs Green - why did the builders warn against vinyl wrap? I had in my last kitchen reno (about 4 years ago) - loved it, white satin finish, very easy to keep clean, and I will use again in my new kitchen. I have laminate in a rental property which is only 5 years old and it is trashed. Looks cheap and nasty. Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 49Dec 03, 2010 6:37 pm It doesn't last apparently. All of their display homes started to peel before the end of their display life- the builders no longer use it in their own kitchens. They aren't good with heat or sun- our kitchen will have the stress of both with the sun setting against it (very harsh in summer). I'm also not going to pull my kettle way out past the overheads every time I want to boil it so the steam doesn't hit it... I also don't run the exhaust EVERY time I cook. Apparenty all of these things will result in a short lifespan for my kitchen. The builders believe it isn't value for money. Not that value for money worries me, but it seems it may just suck for our kitchen. I'm not a fan of laminate either, the edges look cheap and nasty and it is too easily affected by liquid spills. Thanks for that Mrs Green - I will have to do some more research. Not sure what to do but I might ask one of the guys who works in the cabinet makers across the road from work what he thinks. Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 52Dec 03, 2010 7:52 pm I thought poly was the 2pak (paint)? Mollyapple the guy who recommends vinyl wrap to us is a cabinet maker lol.. but he comes from VIC so I guess the sun isn't an issue over there, and he is a bachelor so he probably doesn't cook either lmao. I'm hoping my interior designers have some words of wisdom, although one of them told me if I liked the look of marble then to use it for my kitchen bench- she is. I don't think that would be a very good idea Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 53Dec 03, 2010 8:11 pm MrsGreen Are you still sucking it up because it looks good.. or do you now regret using the black? Have you chipped it yet? No, def no regrets about going the black - but in comparison to the white its def more noticeable... I do have one small chip on the underside of one of the top cabinet doors - have no idea how it got there...? But isn't really noticeable - hoping that will be the first - and last!! Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 54Dec 05, 2010 9:47 pm I have a white kitchen and hate it not because of the colour but overhead cupboards are just too high above the benchtop and one needs to be two metres high to reach the middle shelves besides they are narrow to my linking 250mm from the back wall not taking the front doors into the measurement the rangehood is too slim but powerful but Who cares I waited nearly 3 months without a rangehood. There is no cornince or filler between the cabinets and ceiling. I wanted to have a splashback but needs fire rating board so I ended up with bare brick wall. Wanted to have appliances but pipes and electrical do not mix and the sparky told me that would need a new circuit which would *** Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 55Dec 05, 2010 10:06 pm MrsGreen It doesn't last apparently. Because they use cheap thin vinyl. Hubby used a "well known" company once for a customer and that was the one and only time he's ever had a problem with peeling. Hasnt used that company since. Although it is true vinyl can peel, it shouldnt if its taken care of properly Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! I cook 5 times+ a day, I'm not overly gentle with my kitchen unfortunately. Although the main reason they recommended us against it was because of the sunlight it is going to cop. I don't think we would be overly spoilt for choice here in the west. I still have no idea what to use. Vinyl won't stand our sun/heat, 2pak will get chipped, laminates don't look as classy... it's all so hard! Re: Pictures of your all white kitchen 57Dec 06, 2010 8:11 am Timber! The question I have is what colour bar chair do you have with your all white kitchen. We aren't decided on the colour of our splashback and want to know if you guys have opted for the 'safety' of white stools or whether you have gone a little more bold with other colours? we are prolly thinking of these stools Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ but unsure of the colour and what would work with a white kitchen... ie.. would black chairs work regardless of splashback colour?
