Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 26, 2010 11:58 am Hi I am new to this forum and I have a question about a kitchen. We have a large old home with kitchen at the back of the house - a while back we put some kitchen cupboards with a sink and taps in the front sunroom (no stove) for coffee making and snacks for the front living area - there are 3 living areas in the house - 2 being at the back. As we are having some renos done and council are coming around we are worried that we can not have the kitchen bar - though when we first put it up we called council and they couldn't tell us weather we could put this in as there was nothing that was writtten into their rules. But now a private company has told us that the council may make us take it down. We would really appreciate any help as we don't want to remove it as it is so handy. Re: Worried that council might make us remove Kitchen Bar! 3Sep 26, 2010 1:31 pm lol no just free drinks with the BBQ We were just very surprised when we were told by a private surveyor - so we have been in a panic these last few days. The Kitchen bar is also used for our BBQ being closer as it is to the side of the house - a nice little sun trap even in winter. So we would really miss it if it had to go ! Re: Worried that council might make us remove Kitchen Bar! 5Oct 07, 2010 12:15 pm I think the problem is that anything connected to plumbing or something like that needs to be approved by council. So if you have waste going into their system, they would need to approve it. You need to double check this, but im pretty sure thats why (and im in QLD so not sure if it makes a difference) the plumbing plans get approved by council whereas your house plans can be approved by a private certifier. I dont know if i am remembering incorrectly, so if someone can correct please do...
