Also do you have a dishwasher? The area where you put the dishwasher or the fridge, timber needs to be laid there as well yeah? Then the fridge and washer just sits on top of it. Yes, my understanding is that they will have to put something like quad around the edges of the floor where it meets the cabinets. And yes, I think it looks ugly. In our last house we had a timber floating floor installed, we took up the skirting boards and reinstalled them over the top of the boards, but in the kitchen they had to use the quad against the cabinets. They need to put something down over the edges of the boards. Re: Installing timber floor in new kitchen 8Sep 24, 2010 11:58 am Strumer If you are worried about getting the floorboards flush against the kicks maybe you can get the kitchen installed without the kicks, lay the floor and then get the kicks fitted. This works better in designs where all the end panels finish at the top of the kicks This is the winner. I have floating floor at the minute and hate the miles of quad they have used around the house. Cupboards>floor>kick panels Re: Installing timber floor in new kitchen 9Sep 24, 2010 7:53 pm We never had quod put between our boards and kicks. No probs and not ugly. The floor boards did go under the dishwasher and fridge though. Re: Installing timber floor in new kitchen 10Sep 24, 2010 8:12 pm We had our timber floor laid before skirting or kitchen was fitted. We cut our floors back and particularly focused on the edges so the skirtings or kickboards wouldn't show gaps. Ask yourself if the insurance company will be aware of the Reno. 4 7485 Hi everyone!
