Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 16, 2010 11:23 am Not really kitchen, but cabinetry related so seemed like the right spot. Just a few "how to, is it possible?" questions and some price questions. We have a bench running along the side of the laundry. We left it open underneath so that it can be the cat's area. One side is his food area, one side is his kitty litter. We have a baby gate between the laundry and the mud room so that the dogs can't get it. All works perfectly, except that we'd like to utilise some of the space above the cat and under the bench. Each side of the support panel is around 1170mm wide. I'd like to install a drop down front on each side or a pull out draw around 400mm high. One will be for clothes baskets and buckets, the other a dirty clothes hamper. The carcass of the drawers does not need to be solid due to the purpose, in fact for the hamper, a wire basket type carcass would be better. But the fronts I'd like to be the laminate (Smokey Sapelle). Will the drawers/drop down cupboard be too heavy and wide? I have thought about putting a 400mm wide cupboard at each far end, or a 400mm wide cupboard at one end and a 400mm wide bank of drawers at the other, then the two draws to meet in the middle at the support. This would leave the draws at over 700m wide which would still be perfect for their intended purposes. The next question is what type of cost would I be looking at? The cupboards on the other side of the laundry all have the dura edge so I'd liek it to match. So, approximate cost of a 400mm wide bank of drawers, a 400mm wide cupboard and the two 700mm wide cupboards or drawers. Or alternatively two 1170 wide drawers/drop down cupboards? Also, if both configurations would be viable, which would look better? Some pics of the area and thanks for any help. Terrence Malick Re: Laundry cabinetry question - adding cupboards/draws. 2Sep 16, 2010 5:33 pm Joles, Don't know where you are located but if in Vic I suggest you visit Plyboard Disributors in Dandenong. They are flat pack people and can design you any configuration you wish. They can also make available 3D type pictures of your options from which you can easily choose the one you prefer. Prices are quite competitive. They are not a standard size box operator - you can have any dimension in any configuration you wish. Probably the more draws you have the more it costs - much more cutting etc plus there is the drawer slider hardware - than if you just have cupboards with a few internal shelves. I have just used them for both a laundry and kitchen and am delighted with their service and product. cheers Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room. There is a hallway/entry that is never used, so was thinking this could be an option. Only… 0 4709 Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards. TIA 0 16588 Agreed.
