I was asked to install an Ikea kitchen a couple of weeks back and when I cut one of the gloss panels I noticed that the gloss layer was a thick layer of ABS. Even the edging was an aluminum edging which sounds the same as an ultraglaze option. It was certainly different to the standard gloss melamine surfaces I'm used to working with, whether it is any better..... I couldn't say. I couldn't see any particular advantage over silk, crystal gloss or createc. It would be interested to know the price difference between ultraglaze and other gloss panels. If it is any more expensive I couldn't see any reason to pay the premium. I've also just realised how old the original thread is.......
