Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 13, 2010 5:43 pm Hi all, My builder just called me to tell me that our Kitchen island (Ceaserstone osprey) is too long for 1 sheet of stone?!?!?! Like they didnt know this before We have been told that the benchtop is due to go in on september 21st so we need to sign a variation and send to them asap ....this is the attached variation they are sending through: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They are also saying that if we want the joint in a different place, they will charge us for it... What are your suggestions? If they do any variation besides the proposal they will have to use more material as it all gets cut out of sheets 3060 x 1440; least noticeable would be across the cutout. This is the sort of thing that often gets overlooked at the "proposal" stage and it's not until they sit down to do the specifying/ordering that they realise they have not allowed for the extra length. It may have been accidental or deliberate but there is going to have to be a join in the top regardless. Re: Urgent: Ceaserstone - Joint in my benchtop?? 3Sep 13, 2010 6:09 pm If I'm reading it right (might not be ), the total length is 3100mm? So only 60mm over the total 3040mm that is available in one piece? I'd lose a little off the length of the bench and keep it in one piece. Yep they will have to play around with the underbench cupboard configuration slightly, but that's not your problem. Things should have been explained more clearly to you. That's the way I'd go. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I agree with joles. If it were going to be 4 metres or something fair enough but for 4cm there's no way I would bother considering the extra cost it will be! Re: Urgent: Ceaserstone - Joint in my benchtop?? 7Sep 14, 2010 4:34 pm all sorted now.... apparently the joint was for the stovetop benchtop...it is actually not too visible from the outside anyway....the builder also showed us some pics of joints they have done and we can hardly see it! So we agreed to the join! Good news is - benchtop is going in on 21st september!! yayayayaay Thanks all for your assitance! Building with Celebration homes SOR Perth [color=#BF00BF] Evening, Had my 3 month maintance done on my new place. Most things are fixed to ok standards, but im not sure about the visible joins in my plaster wall. There was 2… 0 4609 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 7422 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 9084 |
