Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 13, 2010 12:13 pm I hope my question makes sense... I have a flat pack kitchen to be installed in my current reno. I really don't like slim overhead cupboards though, and prefer overheads to be the same depth as the base cupboards. So can I safely secure base cabinets overhead? Or will I need to reinforce them somehow? Would love to hear from people who have done this. People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people. Not just the weight of the cabinet but the fact you can fit twice as much in so you are expecting these things to hold at least double the weight i would guess! If you did it i would recommend using a solid piece of timber at the top so that you can secure both along the back of the cabinets and in the top. Re: Using base cupboards overhead 4Sep 13, 2010 2:22 pm I've seen it done plenty of times. Slim overhead cupboards are a bug bear of mine as they don't look right to me. I need that depth for things to look finished. Yes another quirk of mine that is making life just a tad trickier People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. I don't think you'll be able to mount base cupboard on a wall as they aren't constructed to have all of their weight loaded on the rear walls. They also don't usually have a fully enclosed top as there would normally be a bench on top of them. If you take a look around you can find some places that will do custom flat packs. Basically they will cut everything to suit your design, flat pack it and you can assemble yourself. I had a look at the ones I used last year, but can't find any that list 580mm deep off the shelf Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards. TIA 0 16604 That's a bit of a vague question. Either cupboard size is fine. With no real advantage or disadvantage to either, apart from the fact that the 900 cabinet fits more into… 1 861 I've filled, levelled and compacted around 100mm of roadbase in preparation to lay some outdoor court tiles.
