Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 05, 2010 11:16 pm I've tried a few different layouts but nothing seems quite 'right'. We're hoping to have a wall of appliances... but to put them in the most logical place, means the fridge has to go at the opposite end from the prep area... probably not so practical. So this time i've left it a blank canvas to see if anyone can help us come up with some ideas. If you want to see where the living/dining are in relation to the kitchen it can be seen on my blog... the only relative changes are that the wall of the alfresco has moved out so it is level with the opposite side (and further away from the island bench). The top of the picture is West... so that end will cop a fair amount of hot sun during the warm months. Our appliances... stove top (not sure if it'll be gas or induction) 90cm. Rangehood 90cm. Oven 60cm. Microwave (built-in) 60cm. Coffee machine (built-in) 60cm. SBS fridge ~120cm (intergrated). Dishwasher (semi-intergrated). All will be Miele. From the dotted line to back of bench (widthways) is 3.6m and top to bottom (from back of bench) is 4.8m. In the great big scheme of things I tend to get everything out I need and then go for it with my cooking. For me the priority was the cooktop facing outwards and not towards a wall - so on my island, and a wall of appliance. Hope this helps ... not!!! Meile huh , very swanky. YOu getting Liebherr fridges? Three years ago when we were in Germany our fridge packed up, we asked my folks if you could buy Liebherr here ... they said no! I could throttle them now! Re: Kitchen Layout Suggestions 3Sep 06, 2010 9:57 am No it is cheaper to get the Miele fridges and then go from 7.5% to 10% discount. They're made by the same company... My issue is where to put the fridge really if the small wall is full of appliances. I guess it goes at the other end, which on the original plan is where the sink is (which to me makes sense to have it on the end closest to dining). I suppose the fridge should really be closest to the prep end? I was just worried about walking 4m with the milk for a coffee or stuff for toast if the fridge is at the opposite end, since I can't fit it with the appliances. Otherwise I'm going to have to stack them, and that just doesn't look as good What didn't help was I somehow added an exra half metre depth onto my working sketches... it was all going reasonable until I noticed, haha. You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 8125 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 4559 |
