Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 02, 2010 9:47 am I am wanting to replace the taps and spout/nozzle on my kitchen sink but am not having much luck getting the old one off. Potentially a silly question, but is there a convention to remove nozzle you would turn clockwise or counter clockwise? I only ask as I do not want to force it and break the thing causing more damage than I can fix myself! Re: Kitchen Sink Taps & spout 2Sep 02, 2010 10:47 am We replaced our spout a few weeks ago because it was broken. It had to be removed from underneath the bench. Not sure about taps. The lady in the shop (tradelink I think) showed me how it was done, so went home and explained to husband and he was able to do it. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. Re: Kitchen Sink Taps & spout 5Sep 05, 2010 12:10 pm If you have a hob spout (the spout sits on the rim of the sink) its simply a matter of unscrewing the spout in a counter clockwise direction. The spout will have a square edge on it. You fit a spanner on that and turn counter clockwise direction. The spout is screwed onto a male thread that protrudes from the base of the sink rim. Put some thread seal tape on the protruding thread and screw your new spout on in a clockwise direction. Re: Kitchen Sink Taps & spout 7Sep 09, 2010 8:34 am ok, in that case Just unscrew the spout in a counter clockwise direction. Put thread seal tape on (between 6 and 8 turns with the tape) and screw the new spout on with just your hands using the spout itself as leverage. When youre touching the tiles and your spout is in the correct position stop. Just make sure youre not turning to far up against the tiles. if it goes tight before you hit the tiles, start again with less tape. if you hit the tiles before you are in the correct position, start again with more tape Re: Kitchen Sink Taps & spout 8Sep 09, 2010 8:49 am Thanks very much for the replies - will definitely try that - maybe just needed a little more force. Here's the culprit: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd191/McReidy23/Phone231.jpg Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included. My hesitation… 0 24690 Have had stone benches with undermount sink (kitchen) and drop-in (laundry) and top-mounted basin (bathrooms) for coming up 13 years and not one chip/scratch of any kind.… 2 9672 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6626 |
