We have no idea what we're doing with ours, we've been around and around in circles, and i've barely slept for more than a week because I cannot stop thinking about the kitchen!!! We are having a white based polished concrete on this floor. We were going to go white bench, white splashbacks (the white on starfire or whatever it's called.. the very white one), white glossy cupboards overhead, then dark wood look to everything under the bench, the oven area and the entire wall where the fridge is, BUT.... I've decided vinyl wrap isn't right for us since it will get hit by sun (to the top of the kitchen is the dining, which is surrounded by 3 glass walls which are west facing the sunset- it is going to get hot summer sun) and I have hot appliances on all 3 walls. My builder recommended not using it because they've had problems with it even in their display homes. I also don't want panels under the bench but something seemless- for the length of 3m. So based on what i've been reading the ColourTech poly doors are a good option (and i'm assuming somewhat cheaper than other 2pak options?) The problem then is that we can only have solid colours. I'm not even sure if they are an option for whatever sizes our cupboards and drawers end up. Hubby thinks we just use espresso brown, but i'm worried about marks, too dark, too plain etc etc. We will have quite a lot of white concrete downstairs, but the kitchen is south facing with glass walls to the west, so I am a little concerned about natural light. Our colour schemes throughout the house will be based on earthy neutral colours, the white concrete (hanson roebuck bay, we think) has a lot of nice light earthy tones through it. I would post a pic but I can't find one of the polished product and the honed one looks a lot creamier than it really is IRL. Would GREATLY appreciate some advice... I really need to get this sorted out so I can start sleeping again (or move on to the whole tile selection nightmare)... Thanks in advance *The wall is L shaped, behind the fridge & oven benches. The outside line is just where the dropped ceiling is. I love neutral colours and think whichever solid colour you choose would look great, so you have to choose what you like great help aren't I I love browns and taupes so that's probably what I would go for. No, not much help at all Suh, you sound just like me You don't think 'espresso' brown 2pak would be too much to be all below the bench and then an entire wall in it? I'm just worried it would be too much/dark or too 'plain' without a wood grain. What would you use for splashback and under bench? Would you recommend the colourtech stuff or something else? Personal opinions on bench tops (brands/ colours). I'm worries about it clashing (too alike) to the concrete. We're quoted marble/granite for bench n splashback but i'm not keen on joins (or maintenance, hence the concrete floor) even though I think a nice light one with brown streaks would look awesome. I've looked at Moogles kitchen, love it. I'd love to go black but maybe in the next house without the 3 little mess monsters Re: Kitchen Colour Suggestions 7Aug 30, 2010 5:57 pm I like the white everywhere and the darker benches underneath and on one wall. If you want a gloss laminate but with a wood grain, i'm sure that its available. I thought polytec did something along those lines and i think laminex also have a crystal gloss range that might have a woodgrain gloss. I was only in laminex the other week but i was only looking at very budget kitchen finishes for a rental. I do like the depth of a gloss board with either the woodgrain or the sparkle look. Re: Kitchen Colour & Layout Suggestions 8Aug 31, 2010 5:10 pm I was looking at colours so long I've ended up reconsidering the original layout. Which one do you prefer? The dining is the to top of the pic, which is surrounded by 3 glass walls to alfresco/lawn/pool. To the left is the loungeroom (tv is directly opposite wall to the bench). To the right is the theare/toy room, closed off with a single glass door. You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15586 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. I'm set on having the main sink with dishwasher in the scullery - and… 0 20893 Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location.
