Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 12, 2010 4:46 pm Hi everyone! Love this forum, but mostly as a lurker I have looked through but can't find anyone who has pictures of a Caesarstone Latte benchtop with a neutral/brown glass splashback. My benchtops are installed, with white vinyl wrap cupboards and half strength Hog Bristle Paint. I also have a bright red feature wall opposite (tempted to get red splashbacks, but really want to go for something more neutral...). I am thinking about the metallic "Cocoa Galore" but not sure if the colour will go..? Darn small sample are hard to work out!!! Advice? Photos? Please? PS Sorry I haven't posted pics of the colours, couldn't figure it out *blonde* --------------------------------------- Maybe this will work? What about just continuing the 1/2 Hogs and bringing in red accessories into the kitchen to tie it into the feature wall? Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 3Aug 13, 2010 11:37 am thanks bel yeah thats what i am worried about! had initially set my heart on just a white splashback, but have been advised against by the glass guy, cos the green tinge will be obvious against the white cupboards! the glass guy recommended a darker colour than lighter, which is where i came to cocoa galore... nervous about going too dark, as the room is already a bit low on light. i saw a previous forum about dulux 'ceylonese' with CS latte, and am getting a sample of that made up, but a bit worried its too dark.. btw, does anyone know if 'low iron' glass is the same as 'starfire' glass?? still keen on some photos of splashbacks with CS latte, if anyone has one...?? cheers, spiffmiff Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 4Aug 13, 2010 1:00 pm If you do white on Starfire it won't have a green tinge....have a read about low iron glass. http://www.stegbar.com.au/pdf/data_shee ... 0Glass.pdf Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 5Aug 13, 2010 1:21 pm spiffmiff btw, does anyone know if 'low iron' glass is the same as 'starfire' glass?? Yep same. I *think* Starfire is a brand name (could be very wrong though!) As Suh said, you could still have your white with the Low Iron/Starfire glass, and it'd look white. Have you done a search on here for other people's splashed with Latte? I'll see if I can find some Still not in. Don't ask!? Don't ask!? Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 7Aug 13, 2010 1:52 pm thanks again for your replies! so many decisions...! i am not sure caroline j's bench is latte, though, that pic is gorgeous but bench colour doesn't look like mine... love stripple seal and hadn't thought of that! i love the other pic, with the waterfall end... one of the reasons i decided CS Latte was my colour! our glass guy swore that if we got a white splashback that we'd regret it, as its right next to the bright white cupbords the slight green tinge from low iron glass would be obvious.... hmmmmm! Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 9Aug 13, 2010 1:57 pm Yeh sorry spiffmiff Caroline's isn't latte Can you pick from any colour for your splashback - ie any Dulux colour? If you can, what Dulux colour is the Latte closest to? Then I might be able to help you with colours in the family Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 10Aug 13, 2010 5:39 pm We have a glass splash black and had it painted the colour we wanted. We had it done half strength waywood and I think our bench is cashmere. Really you should be able to have any colour you want - but I know it's not always the way. I'll try and upload a pic tomorrow Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 11Aug 13, 2010 6:01 pm Thanks all for your replies Sorry I don't think I explained myself well.... I can choose whatever paint colour I want, its just that my original choice (white) isn't really possible, as the slight green tinge in the glass will make it look funny against the bright white cupboards. There is a white sample, and I can see what he means.... unfortunately!! So now I'm just trying to figure out a good alternative I have some glass colour samples, however they are so small (about 10cm square) that its really hard to tell how they'll look over the whole space..... hence my asking for pictures. From experience (!!) I know that what looks good with colour chips doesn't necessarily translate to a larger scale! Unfortunately I am not sure what paint colour the Latte is close to, but thanks very much for the offer Bel! I'll try post a few pics tonight of our kitchen (minus splashback)... Cheers, spiffmiff Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 12Aug 13, 2010 6:07 pm If I were you spiff, I would go to another glass manufacturer and get a second sample of white on low iron glass, cause I don't believe there should be a green tinge in it according to that Stegbar brochure Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 13Aug 14, 2010 4:12 pm Hmmm maybe I should seek a second opinion on the white glass thing.... Anyways, here is how it looks so far... http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/spiffmiff/P1020346small.jpg Note the colour samples on the far wall.... Stove was installed this morning - FINALLY! Re: Splashback to go with Caesarstone Latte - Help? 14Aug 14, 2010 4:36 pm OK this might help you - I have latte benches and a dark metallic brown splashback (not starfire glass either - darker colour splashbacks dont need it as it doesnt show the green tinge). You wouldn't want to "almost" match it and then have it clashing IMHO. I would go with your white splashback on super clear glass as opti/ starfire glass is not meant to have a green tinge. I was lucky enough that my splashback guy allowed me to go and see his painter and the difference on standard and clear glass in a colour is huge! see if you can get a bigger sample... glass splashback is hard to choose and if you can get someone that is willing to help you out the most they will be your best friend... After much thought (and worry hehe), we decided to go with the Dulux Ceylonese, which was actually recommended in a previous topic. The splashback guy had a 30cm x 30cm piece made up and so it was much easier to get an idea of the finished product. *hope* it won't look too dark..! Now I am nervously awaiting the install. Will post up a pic of the finished product Thanks again! Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting.
