I have just installed an under bench dishwasher where the bench top is first the cabinet carcass then an 18mm moisture resistant particle board substrate and then Caesarstone over the top of the substrate. Immediately above where the door of the dishwasher opens there is some very close substrate which is protected by a metal strip (supplied with the dishwasher presumably to protect the substrate) but I notice this metal strip has several holes in it for whatever purpose and is obviously not an integral sheet and so can let steam and condensation interact with the substrate.
My question is - should I be providing more protection to the substrate with a good covering of paint or similar compound to thus provide a decent moisture barrier?
Sorry to be so long with the preamble.
thanks
