Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 09, 2010 1:20 pm I've had a few quotes to have our tired laminate benchtop covered with a surface stone product. The difference between the quotes is immense, even with the same product (but different installers)! Just wondering what people's experience is with these overlays? I like the sound of little interruption to the kitchen, ie. can be installed insitu in a day or two. They don't seem to be much cheaper than a solid stone benchtop but that doesn't really bother me. I'm just interested in the longevity and durability of the product. Any info, advice, comments and pics are welcome! Re: stone overlay for benchtops 2Aug 09, 2010 2:54 pm My mum had a granite overlay installed by Granite Transformations a couple of years ago. They are very happy with it. Took 2 days to install, was a very low mess installation and still looks great. Probably a similar price to a quartz composite (Caesarstone etc.) but definitely much cheaper than a 50mm slab of granite!
