Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 08, 2010 11:24 am My dream kitchen is going to have a big deep sink, big enough for to wash a roasting pan or wok comfortably. Currently I have your typical stainless job with the tiny useless rinsing sink which I despise with a passion. Basically I want a sink big enough to bathe a toddler in What are the pros and cons of those big white ceramic sinks? Do they chip easily? I would be washing some heavy roasting pans so I don't want to damage the sink in any way. Re: white ceramic sinks 2Aug 08, 2010 9:56 pm I had one when we lived in England and I hated it It was too deep for washing smaller dishes so I always felt like I was bending over too far. For some reason, all my plates and cups etc chipped really easily when I washed them in it. But the worst thing by far was that it stained very easily - I was always having to bleach it to get it back to white. Some of the stainless steel ones are very deep. I have even seen someone use a small laundry trough in their kitchen which is great if you want a really big bowl. Re: white ceramic sinks 3Aug 09, 2010 9:11 am Ceramic is much less flexible than stainless which is why it will have a greater tendency to chip your plates and glasses, as said above. Re: white ceramic sinks 4Aug 09, 2010 10:07 pm thanks I thought the depth might be a problem for my husband as he's very tall and we use a fair bit of crystal-- figured we better use our wedding presents sometime! I really do love some of the pics I've seen of these sinks in the style of kitchen that I want and after having the standard stainless sinks my whole life, I'm a bit over them I've seen pics of single stainless sinks with the depth I want, but I don't think it will go with the kitchen I want. Re: white ceramic sinks 6Aug 10, 2010 9:28 pm albi Go with what you like Decogal. I agree, in the right sort of kitchen they look fantastic but I just didn't like living with mine. Tend to agree with you Albi. When I lived in the UK I had a really deep sink, however mine was stainless but had a stone counter top that went over the lip of the sink. So had many a chipped item that hit the side as it went in or out. Nothing wrong with the deep sink though, was quite handy, but size wise was still not quite big enough to wash my wok.
