Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 02, 2010 10:47 am Hi all, I'm having a dilemma with the kitchen colours and am after some advice.... I love the white C/S benchtops but DH really loves the black zulu. Does anyone have pictures of either or each of these to assist me in making up my mind? Also, is the black difficult to keep clean? If we did go with the black, I am unsure of what colour cupboards we would choose as I really don't like the white cupbard/black top combination. Stuck. Trudy Re: black or white benchtop? 2Aug 02, 2010 11:54 am Hi Trudy, My DH wanted a black top and I wanted white. So we compromised. The rear bench is black and the island bench is white. We are having white cupboards and madagascar (which is a black/grey laminate) on the oven tower and back of island bench. Our colours ore on my thread. Kay A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. This time around in our new build going for a light coloured CS "Nougat" as we had a similar CS bench top in a rental a few years ago which was a breeze to clean. Here are some pics from our old rental when the owners sold it this year Pic 3 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Pic 4 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think it is all to do with reflected light, the black benchtops show a lot of reflection (almost like a mirror), the white virtually none. Trudy Hi Trudy. we are in the same boat. we luv CS Nougat but concerned abt staining heavy colors, so was looking @ dark benches. Was v much impressed by Aaron&Erins Zulu and this NightSky.viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17243&start=180 We will be opting for Night sky with OysterLInea laminate cupboards. Re: black or white benchtop? 7Aug 02, 2010 6:03 pm HI everyone, thanks for all of your responses and advice we are compromising.... to have the main island bench in a light colour (either pure white, osprey or nimbus) and have the back bench in a darker colour (walnut C/S). This will match the wall tower cupboards also being in walnut. all underneath and overhead cupboards will be in parchment. Splashback in 'opulent'. what are your thoughts? I drew up the kitchen using "envisage" on the studio M website. Have a go... so much fun! Thanks, Trudy Re: black or white benchtop? 8Aug 02, 2010 9:24 pm Trudy, This is similar to what our kitchen should look like when we finish building. I used the studiom ages ago. It is so good to get a visual on what we want. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. Our butlers pantries will be exactly the same I love your turquoise splashback We decided not to put a bold colour on ours just incase we changed our minds later on. Is your back benchtop in black? it will look awesome against the blue Re: black or white benchtop? 11Aug 03, 2010 2:17 pm trudy Gosh Kaytee, ours look very similar dont they?!?! Is your back benchtop in black? it will look awesome against the blue Hi Trudy, We don't actually have a butlers pantry. Ours is off to the side of our kitchen. On this studiom arrangement you can only use approx colours on some things. Our benches are CS Ice Snow and Jet Black. Our kitchen display pic is shown on my thread. It will be same as in display house pic, but in our colours. The splashback will be very similar to the studiom one but maybe a just little lighter. Kay A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. Never had a problem with light coloured laminex benchtops staining. Re: black or white benchtop? 15Aug 03, 2010 5:52 pm Wow, I just had a read on that vogue forum .... thats interesting. I think I am going to go ahead with white, but just be careful with leaving things on it overnight. we are using walnut on the back bench where the cooktop will be so i guess that helps. its really only our island bench that will be white. Thanks so much for the tips everyone. xx Thankyou for your advice. We do have Caesar coming out and hopefully resolve the issue for us. 4 18731 The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
