I've also had a stainless steel cooktop which I HATED cleaning. Do you like the induction? Do you think it is as good as gas? Re: I think I regret my decision! I've only ever had gas by choice (after growing up in a home with electric hot plates). I've also had a stainless steel cooktop which I HATED cleaning. Do you like the induction? Do you think it is as good as gas? I love it, it heats up really quickly, and super fantastic for simmering. The best part of it is cleaning the glass, so much easier than stainless steel. The only negative is, that I have a few minor scratches, due to using some cast iron cookware I had, which I've since given away. You also have to be careful not to use it as a benchtop which is easily done when your dishing up dinner and you have a plate on the glass and move it to the side, it can also scratch it. Re: I think I regret my decision! Not anymore!! 66Jan 28, 2011 7:27 pm Ease of cleaning would be my biggest reason for choosing it, time taken to heat up, my biggest reason for not. However, sounds like that isn't an issue. Seems like it is worth considering. Thanks for the report. Re: I think I regret my decision! Not anymore!! 67Jan 28, 2011 8:19 pm No worries When you say that the biggest reason for not choosing it is due to time taken to heat things up, do you mean because you think things may get burned?? There are 11 different heating settings and think it's so much easier, than playing with a gas top to work out how hot you would like it. I was never been able to simmer with gas the way you can with induction, it's really amazing!! Re: I think I regret my decision! No, I actually thought it would take ages to heat up just like electric hot plates. Re: I think I regret my decision! Not anymore!! 69Jan 28, 2011 8:43 pm MissyP No, I actually thought it would take ages to heat up just like electric hot plates. You can boil up a large pot of water on the highest setting and it's boiling in about 5 minutes, I reakon even faster than gas DH just threw in they are more energy efficient too! Re: I think I regret my decision! Not anymore!! 70Jan 29, 2011 12:32 pm I'd just like to add that I ADORE my Blanco Induction cooktop! I'd always preffered gas, but now? I'd choose induction hands down! Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: I think I regret my decision! My mum got a new induction stove, I was very sceptical after always cooking with gas but I (and DH also) are very impressed with it.
