Re: I think I regret my decision! 22Jul 15, 2010 8:33 pm nooooo dont second guess it, it looks great....been through the display many many times, and thats the first thing i fell in love with the house... thats where my insperation came from as well for my kitchen. Dont think you can beat the classic clean look of white!!!! We are going with a metalic silver splashback though just to contrast the white and also our over head lights on island bench are silver and crystal, so im hoping the spashback ties in with the lights and they stand out on an all white kitchen. Actually the whole display house colours are great, and is what we are using in our house!!!! Pity the house is not a display anymore, cant go and have another look Re: I think I regret my decision! 23Jul 15, 2010 8:37 pm Barbs- I'm having white on starfire glass in my all white kitchen-chosen because this is the 4th time I've had to choose kitchen colours and over the years I've realised that it's much easier to change accessories than the kitchen...! The metalic silver sounds fantastic, with the lights reflection should look amazing. I didn't even think about any other colours, to be honest. Just saw that in the display and went yes. Deemaree Barbs- I'm having white on starfire glass in my all white kitchen-chosen because this is the 4th time I've had to choose kitchen colours and over the years I've realised that it's much easier to change accessories than the kitchen...! Wow Dee 4!!! This is my second and in my last house, which was built ten years ago, I had an all white kitchen with blueish/greyish benchtops(blue was very popular 10 years ago, lol )so I understand what you mean. Re: I think I regret my decision! 26Jul 16, 2010 11:52 am As much as I love this forum it's had me second guessing nearly every decision I made! Luckily I love what we picked so in the end it was all good. I love, love, love the look of the white splashback .... in fact, if it wasn't for DH and the 3 kiddies my whole house would be white, white and white Re: I think I regret my decision! 27Jul 16, 2010 12:05 pm mek One of the things I would not change if I had to do it all over again would be my no-colour splashback even though everyone wanted me to go red. Jo, welcome back!!! Thank you mek, Does yours have the green tint, too? The red does look amazing though. I'm not that adventurous either. Pebbles As much as I love this forum it's had me second guessing nearly every decision I made! Luckily I love what we picked so in the end it was all good. I love, love, love the look of the white splashback .... in fact, if it wasn't for DH and the 3 kiddies my whole house would be white, white and white Thanks Pebbles, Me tooo. Everything would have been white, except the carpet. My DH loves bold colours, so had to compromise. I also relate to the second guessing, I would stop reading but I'm addicted Re: I think I regret my decision! 28Jul 16, 2010 12:59 pm My splashback, if anything, has a slight blue-grey reflection, with Dulux White on White paint underneath. You're not building for other people , I can say that I went way different to the norm because I wanted to (no browns, beiges or creams, because I don't like them) and if I built again it would be another grey house . So stick with what you like and what you would be comfortable with. Re: I think I regret my decision! 30Jul 16, 2010 1:28 pm brb_654 - second guessing is just human nature. You need to decide what is going to be the main focus in your kitchen. The splash you have chosen will never date and will always coordinate with any other colour you introduce. As Jo said there are other ways to introduce another colour later should the need arise. I deliberately told no-one (even DH didn't get told until about 6wks before) what my splash would be. Because we have such a strong colour statement with our benchtop everyone assumed I would be going with glass painted silver / stainless. They all got the shock of their lives when the picture went up. To this day whenever someone walks into our living space it is the first thing they see. So in a nutshell - you and your DH are the only ones that need to love it. The rest don't really matter in the scheme of things. Some things are worth waiting for. Not anymore!! 39Sep 07, 2010 10:00 pm It looks great brb. Well done. I think I have learned during my build and now living in my new home that I think I will always love what I cannot or don't have better. However I recently walked into a display home (dare I say and was brave enough post-build) just to compare. I still didn't really like the display and thought we have done exceptionally well for our age and budget to have a quality home like we have at the moment.
