We have just bought a house and it has a single sink. We want a double! Would it be expensive to do? Everything is already there....so I am not rapt in the mess happening you talked about? So do you have to get a stonemason? Do you have to have a plumber theres as well to measure up the new sink hole? Did you measure up and choose your sinkj? I have NO idea what we want or where to look. gary Re: Cutting stone benchtops insitu 4Jul 12, 2010 7:12 pm You probably need to know the size of the sink you want first. Then get a plumber to measure it up? Make sure he checks to see if there's any pipes that need altering. Then get a stonemason. I have no idea of the cost, as we've built through a volume builder, so the extra work they did was all included in our contract. It only took the guy about 20 mins to do the cutting. They bought in a vacuum thingo so there wouldn't be too much dust. We covered all the furniture aswell. Some composites are difficult because they have a chipboard(timber) base with and overlay of the stone finish. Ours had the chipboard base. They managed pretty well. Although the guy who did it was a complete animal. He was so rude! Re: Cutting stone benchtops insitu 7Jul 12, 2010 7:21 pm I don't know if its composite. I shall find out.
